Battle Plan Takes the KYD Division Two in a Brilliant Display

Day Mile Stakes – Grade II

1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $500.000 Open 3 Year Olds.

1st Battle Plan Mb Stables Lopez P

Billed as the KYD division two race this result went as planned whilst the big one didn’t, leaving me wondering whether the best three-year-old router was actually winning this race. It will certainly be interesting if ever the KYD winner and this one meet as this unbeaten son of Neon Wolf is certainly becoming a bit of a legend even after only three starts. Considering this one hadn’t even seen a racecourse 2 months ago it is remarkable that he has now won two graded stakes with this one being from a terrible gate. Bought for just $11.000 this bold front runner is winning hearts with his daring catch me if you can style, and it seems he is in the right stable to go through the year unbeaten.

2nd Silent Murder Mb Stables Dettori L

With a front runner from the stable, this closer was allowed to run his race sitting well back and then fly home for second. I guess we must believe that these two contrasting running styles were both produced with horse lead, and if that was the case, the trainer should be thanking the race engine as they took the one-two in this race.

3rd Dayton Pan Farms Hernandez R M

There is a lot to like about this one and a lot to like about this performance. I have a feeling he may meet the runner up again. maybe in the Preakness and as this one was having only his fourth start and first stakes start you have to think there is plenty more to come.

4th Lunar Victory Fractious Franco M

The breeder of the winner must’ve been spitting feathers as their charge could only finish on into fourth. This was a good effort from a promising type but in looking at his last four starts one has to wonder whether he can find a running style under this new engine that will bring him the success he deserves.
