Bayou Quartier Makes it Three in a Row in The BEL Gold Cup

The BEL Gold Cup – Grade II
1 1/2 Mile Turf Stake Purse $400.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st   Bayou Quartier  Invicta Group Llc  Franco G

This five year old has certainly hit his straps recently winning his third graded stakes in a  row and this was without a doubt his biggest win yet. As it goes with HRP his previous three races saw him beaten in a  couple of allowances and a nine length tenth in the HOL Turf Cup so he is just another example of waiting for the programming before giving up on a horse. On a day when on pace was the place to be he slipped in behind the early leader early on and took it up pretty early always proving too strong down the stretch to hold on by a half length. The trainer was thrilled by this win and he will be among the chances in November i am sure.

Loved being back on the turf running on stoutly to take second closing on the winner all the way to the line. This was a much improved effort and his works and performances suggest he is finding some improvement.

3rd   Destin  D J C Racing Stables  Bejarano R

In the typical HRP type story this four year old managed to get beat in his last 8 races going unclaimed in a claimer and even getting beaten at lowly TUP last time out. But sure enough we get to a $400 grade two and he storms home for third and would’ve won in another half furlong. Who knows whether he can repeat this effort at this level, who even knows whether he can go back to TUP and win a race, but today he ran a cracker and paid back his trainer for a brave entry.

4th   Moms Guy  Mb Stables  Alvarado J

Another that has been pretty soundly beaten of late he also managed a much improved run coming home very strongly to take fourth ony beaten a length.
