If they’d used the preliminary races in the Pick-um, I might have pulled out the win. Speaking of winning, how about Mr Grusome, my top selection and sent off at 20/1 odds, getting the job done by a neck in the Lafayette Stakes. He finished the seven furlongs in 1:213 for his fourth win of 2020. Bombastic Nobility, another long-shot at 14/1, did all of the heavy lifting but had to settle for the place, a quarter-length in fron of Cardinal Direction in third and Einstein took the minor money.

Let’s keep the long-shots rolling as Gdp Inc’s Catch The Day, sent off at 38/1 odds, ended up in a dead-heat with Patterson Stables’ Fusaichi Pegasus, backed at 15/1 odds, lighting up the tote-board in the Perryville. The final time was 1:091 for the six furlong main track sprint. Highlines was third and Another Flip took home the minor money.

We got a bit chalky in the final under-card race on Day 2 as Roo, owned by Our Athletes, held off Small Fry by a length to take the Fort Springs, as she finished the six furlongs in 1:093. Atomic Skeletons was third with Lady Zigmund fourth.
