Big Competitive Field for The Mohawk

The Mohawk – NG
10/24/20
BEL Race 5 1 1/16M – Turf
Purse $150.000
Three Year Olds and Up NY Breds

One of the stakes on this New York bred stakes day and this is for the turf loving New York breds. A big field of eleven here and it should be a very competitive race. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Financial Peace (8-3-1-1 $146.860), trained by First Class Stable

A stakes winner on the year here and he won a stake at Churchill a few races back. He did run third in a graded stakes race two back and he should have a decent shot if he can work out a trip.

2. Magical Emperor (15-3-1-1 $151.760), trained by 30west

This horse here will be making his first start for his new trainer after being claimed for thirty two dollars. He was beaten that day and he will be in a little over his head in this spot I think.

3. Paris Diplomat (14-2-2-4 $153.950), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Next up in the field here and he will be coming into this race off of a decent sixth in the grade one win Shadwell Turf Mile. If he repeats that effort that is probably good enough to win this race.

4. I Chief (13-3-4-1 $166.610), trained by Sharis Stables

Up to this horse here and he is coming off a very good second in the Virginia Derby where he tried to go wire to wire. He could have an alright chance if he runs back to that race last time.

5. Im Your Huckleberry (11-3-2-2 $61.420), trained by Luz International

Now on to this horse who is making a pretty jump up from his last win where he won a condition allowance at Belterra. Looks a little tough for this horse but maybe he will surprise some people.

6. Up To Di Time (7-2-1-0 $77.800), trained by Night Rider Stables

A last time out winner right here and he won a first level allowance race against New York breds in his last start going wire to wire. He has a big task ahead of him in this spot though.

7. First Class Male (25-5-1-5 $550.240), trained by Team 7 Illusions

From grade one winner over a year ago to being beaten for claiming in his last start he seems to be on the downhill slope. He will have to turn back the time to have a shot to win in this spot.

8. B C P (10-2-2-0 $129.040), trained by Angelos Stable

Another one that will be making his first start for his new barn and he has not been running too well in his last two starts. He was running good early on this year and he could win with some of those races from earlier in the year.

9. Gila River (9-2-0-2 $73.770), trained by Team 7 Illusions

Second from this barn here and he has been running with allowance statebred company but he hasn’t been able to win. He looks a little outmatched in this field.

10. Z Bad Hombre (15-2-2-2 $47.210), trained by Chili King Stables

Next to last horse in the field here and he is coming into this race off of a few races on the dirt. I think he may be better on the dirt over the grass. Looks a little outmatched in this race.

11. Flesh Wound (8-2-2-1 $113.800), trained by Spankys Barn

Last runner in the field here and he is coming into this race off of a win against New York allowance company. It was sprinting and I think he will be pretty speedy from this far outside post.

Summary

Big competitive field here and there is not necessarily a standout in this field. A lot of chances in here and my choice will be Paris Diplomat. Good luck to all in the field.
