7 Unusual Heat Turf Classic
$200.000 4yo&Up Foaled In CA 1 1/8m Turf 123lbs +penalties
Go Fish closed and closed and closed… and got there. A relentless drive and desire got the Black N Gold Stable gray gelding home in front by three-quarters of a length and secured the win in Saturday’s Unusual Heat Turf Classic. It was his first win since May of ’20, but his string of close finishes proved that he was just thaaaat much from getting the win, and he pulled it off today at 6/1 odds. Im Special, the lukewarm favorite carried the 129 lbs to a second place finish, making a big late move to just miss, with That Funky Monkey tiring a bit late in third, after pressing the pace throughout. Take Control took the minor money, in a four horse photo that separated third from sixth by a head-nose-nose.
Go Fish is a 5yo gelded son of Go Cards – Broomstick Angel, by El Gran Broomstick, and he was bred here in CA by Barcelona Farms. This was his sixth win from seventeen starts and takes his lifetime earnings to $307.580. He got the mile and an eighth distance in 1:451 on a turf course marked firm.
