GII – The Adirondack
$200.000 Graded Stake 6 1/2 Furlongs on Dirt For Filly Two Year Olds
The Adirondack is a key stop on the way to the BC Juvenile Filly race in November. The two year old filly division is still wide open and as a result you see a full field of twelve in here with hopes of vaulting up the standings into one of those top contender spots. The last two years the winner of this race went on to finish second in the BC Filly Juvenile both years so winning this race can be a good sign of what’s ahead.
1- Millinneal (Trained by Mb Stables, Ridden by Rosario J)
Third times a charm for Millinneal breaking her maiden. Her works have been steadily improving to the point where she is in the top fifteen for six furlongs. Her confirmation suggests she will like the six and a half furlong distance.
2- Speeding Tales (Trained by Cherrytree Hill Farm, Ridden by Davis D)
Already a stakes winner and runner up in the key race Schuylerville. This will be her fourth race in just over two months, too many races too close together is a bit of a concern with this one and could result in a off race. She doesn’t have many works showing to go off so between the quick turn around between races at not a lot to go off of it makes her one of the big wild cards in the race.
3- Unbendable (Trained by Estero Farms, Ridden by Boulanger G)
Unbendable was able to win wire to wire to break her maiden on a good dirt course and came back in the NY bred Lynbrook. Her works have been just as good as most in this race and needs a big bounce back effort in the Adirondack.
4- Sweet Oly (Trained by Fractious, Ridden by Arroyo A S)
A recent purchase will be running for her new connections for this first time. She is two for two early on in her career after winning the $100.000 My Dear stakes at WO. Her workout times are a notch slower then most in the race so she may be in tough here.
5- Plumage (Trained by Sir Daniel Martin, Ridden by Bravo J)
Plumage has put together three strong starts to begin her career. Her most recent race saw her close from seven lengths off the early lead to finish only a length back of the winner. The added distance could be just what she needs to run them down this time. Her works and races all indicate she could be ready for a big race.
6- Madame de Maintenon (Trained by Blushing Meadows, Ridden by Garcia Ju A)
After breaking her maiden late in April she has taken a break and definitely makes her the freshest horse coming into the race. Her maiden breaker was only a two furlong race so we don’t have much to go off of with this one. Her most recent works have been great and continue to improve.
7- Five Roses (Trained by Aer Stables, Ridden by Talamo J)
Five Roses is coming off a second place finish in a WO allowance in her most recent start. The winner of that race was able to come back and finish a very solid second place in Cal bred stake last week. Her works are improving but are slightly slower then most of the others in the race.
8- Sweep Bnegn (Trained by Drabfantasy, Ridden by Ortiz J L)
Fresh and ready to go is Sweep Bnegn. His most recent race was back on May 15th in which he won the NM bred Kendrick Memorial Stake. Her six furlong work earlier this week puts her right in the mix with the rest of this field. She
9- Coldpack (Trained by John Henry, Ridden by Desormeaux K J)
Winner of two straight including the $100.000 Landaluce Stakes at SA last time out is Coldpack. He was able to go from ninth to first in that race. She has been all over the map in recent races when it comes to adds. Two back she ran with no adds, last race was with bute and has now switched over to lasix and blinkers. Based just on that it is hard to know what version of the horse we will get on Saturday.
10- Free Sunset (Trained by Team 7 Illusions, Ridden by Espinoza V)
Leaving state bred racing for the first time is Free Sunset. After the addition of blinkers and shadow roll she was able to break her maiden in impressive fashion in the $100.000 Lynbrook. Her works put her among the top ten two year old fillies. She may get overlooked a bit at the betting windows, if that is the case she could be the best value on the board.
11- Bora Bora (Trained by Smokey Stover, Ridden by Gallardo A A)
No filly in 2017 has been able to put in a five furlong work quicker then Bora Bora. She is also near the top for six furlong works as well. She isn’t wasting any time getting back in the gate after running in the Schuylerville. She is likely running back quicker then typical to avoid running into Levi Boom who beat her last time out and is probably the only filly with a more impressive work tab. At this time of year not much separates the two year olds but if anyone is slightly above the rest of the field its Bora Bora.
12- Seydoux (Trained by Jerry Garcia Racing, Ridden by Lopez P)
Just like Bora Bora, Seydoux is one of many victims Levi Boom has left in her wake. Last time out Seydoux was able to lead the middle portion of the Astoria but in the end was run down by Levi Boom and having to settle for second. Based on recent works she hasn’t seen the steady improvement in work times you would like to see from the top fillies at this point in the season so she may be a step slower in comparison to some of the others in this race.
