Bora Bora Seeks BC Compensation in Golden Rod

Golden Rod – Grade II [KYO]
CD   Race #6   1 1/16m   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $200.000  For Fillies Two Years Old.

1 Outlaw Queen, trained by Nakamura Stables
Looked to have wasted a good maiden win when coasting home by 6 lengths in an MD maiden and has performed pretty well in two competitive allowances since suggesting that was indeed the case. This is a huge step up in trip for her and her mile work was pretty reasonable suggesting it will suit. An each way chance from a good draw.

2 Fascinating Bottom, trained by Toppedout
Another runner that easily won an MD Maiden race she has since gone even lower winning at the free track. The fact that she is now contesting a $200.000 stakes race suggests she may have wasted two conditions there but as we all know its very hard to translate free track form to pay racing especially when that race was over the turf five furlongs.

3 Line Drive, trained by Our Athletes
She won two good races in a row before going stakes racing and capped off two good efforts with a decent win in the grade three Matron. On the strength of that win se took on the BC Juvenile Filles and ran very nicely to run on into fifth. The track over the BC races seem to favor on speed types so that was a good effort and suggests there is a good chance of compensation here.

4 Most Charming, trained by Mb Stables
Two year old fillies posting sub 1.37 work times just seems crazy when a couple of years ago KYD contenders could break that figure. But here we are as a filly that couldnt win an allowance takes on stakes company for the first time working the best time in the race. What to make of that, well she is owned by Mb Stables so you have to respect her chances despite her form being just average.

5 Power Of Prayer, trained by TwinTowersRacing
Has run well enough in decent company to deserve this chance but i worry about her getting this trip and considering she is working almost a second slower than Most Charming you would have to treat her carefully if you are backing her for the win. Probably her best race so far came in the Sorrento Stakes where she was beaten just two lengths into fifth so there is clearly ability i just wonder whether this race will be a couple of furlongs too far.

6 I Justwantthe Purple, trained by Gdp Inc
A busy sort who has stood her racing well she has some consistent form that suggests she will be competitive here. She ran on well over this trip in the garde three Mazarine BC Stakes ending up fourth and is one of the few in the field guaranteed to get the trip.

7 Nuns Unite, trained by The Sidley Stud
Another solid performer she ran her best race to date last time out when taking the Maid Of The Mist suggesting she will thrive over these longer trips. There has definitely been improvement over the past few months and she is another in the group that represent an each way chance.

8 Bora Bora, trained by Smokey Stover
Clearly the pick on her brilliant second in the BC Juvenile Fillies. Her recent work of 1.36 and 3 which along with Most Charming just makes me shake my head that two year old fillies are running these work times, but with the BC form and that work she looks an obvious choice despite a difficult draw

9 Still Breathing, trained by Crocker Cgs
A solid sort who has some blistering fast sprint works to her name you would expect if she got this trip for her to run into the top five of six. The draw wont help her but if she can get a spot and reproduce her nice maiden win form over a route trip she would have a chance.

10 Im The Boss, trained by Mb Stables
Scraped home in a maiden last time but a 1.37 flat work time suggests she may have found the six furlongs a little short. This is the stables second runner and on work times alone she is the second string.

11 Broken Chat, trained by Estero Farms
Was plenty game in the OK Classics Lassie last time but that form is a long way off this race and a sluggish mile work and a wide draw rule her out at the moment.

12 Hipposin, trained by Jive Inc
Gets a nightmare draw but is a winner of two despite being sold three times already in just a four race career. There was plenty to like about her game win in an allowance last time and her works times are in the ball park but it will take a minor miracle to get her home from the car park.

SUMMARY

This looks an easy trifecta on paper with Bora Bora, Line Dive and Most Charming dominating the form and the work times.
