Xmas Spirit won the Juvenile Filly Turf race and New York Yankees won the Breeder’s Cup Sprint. Both were purchased privately shortly before the race. I bred Altered Skeleton and Jawbone, and that makes it much more exciting.

This will be Jawbone’s second Breeder’s Cuo start. She finished 14th last year in the Juvenile Filly Turf. Another of my homebred, Skeleton Spy, finished second in that race last year. I could not quite get her qualified for this year!

I believe I have had 17 BC starters since I started playing in 2011, but am most proud of my recent successes with breeding.”

When asked about their Breeders Cup history Mm Stables told me “In my account is says I’ve had 3 BC winners but I can only find 2..Attraction 2014 and Spanish Gem 2012.

I would say my greatest BC memory was in 2012 when I was working in Goa India, I stayed up to some ridiculous hour to watch the BC races, 2 of which I had runners in Spanish gem and Explosive Speed, Spanish Gem won his race and Explosive Speed got beaten a neck to finish 2nd in his race.

It was the first time I had any runners in the BC races and I guess it was worth staying up for.

All together I think I’ve had 3 horses run in BC races, but I’m getting old and my mind’s not as good as it once was :-(“

That win was a great example of what made him special and was a great memory”

Blushing Meadows has 94 career graded stakes wins, 25 in Grade 3 races 34in a Grade 2 races and 35 in Grade 1 races.

I caught up with Blushing Meadows and spoke about their Breeders Cup history. “I won 3 BC in 2013 a filly clean sweep Filia Ardross Juvenile turf, Shadow of a doubt in the Distaff and Short Dog in the juvenile fillies. That season I also won I think more G1s than Mb and Sanny all with a stable that had less than 250 horses at the time and 150 by the time the BC was upon us.

My fondest memory is the very first BC I watched soon after I joined and knew I wanted to be part of that if only in a small way. To win one when some great trainers have yet to taste success was special to win 3 the same year and it could have been 5 if bad luck had not played a part is unforgettable. Runner or not it does not spoil the enjoyment of those races plus it’s kind of fun watching one or two show desperation leading up to the races then self-destructing during them because of the results lol.

That’s what makes the game what it is, characters.”

Her next win came on May 1st when she went to CD to race in the Grade 3 Edgewood stakes going a mile and 1/16th on the turf where she closed in late and pulled away for a ¼ length win. She plugged away in graded stakes company after that win a couple of on the board finishes in 3 starts. Glorify Stables has 6 career graded stakes wins, 2 in Grade 3 races 1 in a Grade 2 races and 3 in Grade 1 races.

Glorify Stables told me this, “I’ve only been in 2 BC races, both with the same horse – Late Coming in the sprint. I think there were some solid times where he was the best sprinting horse in his career, however it was in between times he was in the BC. His short femur led to a shorter career, and he peaked between his two BC performances. HIs first one he was very young, yet still had an excellent showing coming 4 lengths off (11th place) to finish 4th, behind by just 1 length.

His second and final BC Sprint appearance last year was the beginning of the end for him, as his last place finish signified what his previous performance indicated.

I’m hoping to get a decent race setup for Fair Quest and I really think she can pull off a shocker if the race goes her way.”
