I think our picks were respectable for the Opening Verse…  this one wasn’t quiet as close as the other stakes on today’s program, but Brit Style from the Lemax Farms outfit, sent off at 6/1 odds, made it three in a row, stalking the pace throughout the one-mile turf event, then edged clear in the final sixteenth to score by three-quarters of a length, stopping the timer at 1:32.26, a new stakes record.  The altered 5yo was never far from the lead and finished with a flourish to bring home his ninth lifetime win from twenty-nine starts and he now has earnings of $1,214.01.  Congrats to the Connections!

Our Athletes takes home another second-place prize (Top Nurse was runner-up in the Mamzelle) as Rearranger set the pace and had the lead in the lane, battled the eventual winner the length of the stretch but it just wasn’t meant to be for this one, and another place finish.  It was two more lengths back to Nakamura Stables’ Suspect The Worse in third, taking a four horse photo for the show money, where Maxmillion Farm’s Powerful Explosion gained the minor purse share.  Four lengths covered the field of seven, the turf course was listed as Firm and we had no scratches from this race.
