Broken Tap Wins First Graded Title with Harlan Win

While it may have been his first Graded win in 21 career starts in three years, Broken Tap took home Stakes victory number seven, and now the fourth Grade III victory for his trainer Arindel. He now sits second in active runners for this upcoming talented trainer.

  • The Harlan ( Gr. III ) – Purse $100.000
  • Gulfstream Park – For Three Years old and Up
  • One Mile and a sixteenth – Main Track

With just a minor $100.000 purse for a Graded company affair, rookie trainer Arindel was not discouraged at putting Broken Tap into this event. The four year old bay gelding out of Snow Tap has been very productive for this trainer. While Arindel’s other entry Genghis would go runner-up at Aqueduct in the Great White Way, this was definitely an ideal win. This being the trainers first season, remember his name as he has already earned over $5,000.000 this season, with an EPR of 4.84. He has also finished sixth in both the Fall Belmont meet and the Fall Santa Anita meet in owner wins behind some of the stellar trainers of the game. Broken Tap will definitely be earning more in the coming season.

While Mb Stables won the Great White Way ahead of the Arindel entry with Graveyard, the finishes would be reversed here as Pure Gift would find the line in second. Missing by a head at the wire after going off as the post time favorite, this is now his third time going runner-up against Grade III company this season. Hopefully next season he will find the top in his next Graded affair.

Ending in a dead heat for the show purse money, Have A Seat ( Maxmillion Farm ) and Storming ( Fractious ) were both pushing up to the line late beside each other, and the photo had them nose to nose at the wire. This is Storming’s second show finish against Grade III company, while Have A Seat was hoping to win his second Grade III event in his career. The fifteen dollar investment a year ago has returned four victories in nine starts for this trainer.
