Cal Bred Speedsters in Spring Fever Stakes

5 SA    Spring Fever Stakes

  $100.000   4yo&Up         F&M Foaled in CA       6f Dirt         123lbs + penalties

Nine Cal-bred fillies and mares will be headed to the gate to sprint six furlongs in Sunday’s Spring Fever Stakes at SA.  Man oh man did we get some talent here today!  I am putting Queen Commander on top of my tickets today.  She has some graded experience and although she doesn’t have a lot to show for those three races, her three wis from nine starts still gives her the nod in my eye.  The inside looks to be full of
speed and ability… this should be a great race to watch and wager.

Here’s The Feild –

1
Miz Evil Five Phooey  Ace Racing Stable  Van Dyke D 125 3/1

Won vs. similar at DMR back in Nov going wire to wire in the 7f Grable Stakes but faltered in the CC Distaff on the turf, then came right back to just miss in the Kalookan Queen over this strip.  She’s been off-and-on a bit of late, but when she’s right, she’s tough.

2
 Queen Commander  TwinTowersRacing  Smith M E 123 4/1

Had back-to-back wins vs. Cal-bred Alw horses then four lesser races, many of those facing graded horses, coming into this one.  Still, she was only beaten eight lengths in three graded races, certainly nothing to sneeze at.  She may find this a bit more to her liking.

3
 Churro  Mb Stables  Franco G 123 6/1

Sharp as a blade although she had been facing a bit softer that what she sees here today.  She’s won two of her three including a starter Alw at FG last out, going today’s distance, and she got home in 1:09 flat – she can run.

4
 Golden Tricks  Team 7 Illusions  Bejarano R 123 4/1

Changed hands prior to this one and you certainly can’t fault T7I for adding this one to the stable.  Five wins from seven starts last season, and she won sprinting, going two-turns, on grass, on dirt…  She’s in the picture every time she goes to the post.

5
Off The Table  Night Mare Racing  Gryder A T 125 4/1

Another lights-out runner that rarely misses being a huge factor in every single race.  Won three of her last four, her second was vs. similar while second in the fore-mentioned Grable and she just gives her all each
time she lines up.

6
All In The Family  LionKing Stables  Fuentes Ru 123 7/1

Has changed hands twice of late but she runs hard for what ever silks they put on the  jock.  Was on the board in six of seven races last season and was third at CT to kick-off the 2020 season.  She’s another that you have to give a serious look to.

7
Laffin At Ya  Chili King Stables  Arroyo N Jr 123 8/1

Hasn’t seen the winner’s circle since June of last season, but she has been knocking at the door file facing stakes company.  Third at GG last out facing similar in the Bear Fan, going today’s distance.  Her last five have come at this distance, so you know what you get.

8
 Summerland  Rampage Stable  Rosario J 123 5/1

Here’s another that never misses a check, hitting the board in seven of eight ad just missed at SA last out while facing Cal-bred OptAlw horses.  If she can repeat that prior race at PRX, she could be a tough horse today.

9
Oneida  Night Rider Stables  Prat F 123 4/1

Was second in the fore-mentioned Bear Fan at GG and that coming off of a maiden win against $16.000 claimers, certainly a great effort on a big step up.  Either way, she certainly looks to be worth the claim, now hitting the board in four of five races.
