Kennedy Road Stakes – Grade II
6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $175.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Gifted Man Spankys Barn Kimura K

With just three lengths between first and twelfth so much of this race like so many other like it was all about who got the trip. This four year old stalked the lead from his nice draw and in the 12 way photo finish managed to last home for a head win. There is no doubt he deserved this win after running very well at grade one level earlier in the year and it is rather interesting that after a string of poor draws and narrow losses he got everything right today from a perfect draw. I think he will be thereabouts in sprint stakes again next year and as a five year old he may just find things a little easier.

2nd= Carnoustie Smokey Stover Hernandez R M

Gaining inch by inch the post came just too soon for the three year old. This was a huge effort off of only 14 days break from a big BC Sprint effort run in pretty much the same time as that championship race.

2nd= Geronimo Nakamura Stables Bahen S R

Missed his KYD split time by about half a second which would have won him this race but rather than contest the pace as he did that day he was taken back and flew home late. Another stride would’ve sealed the deal as it was he dead heated for second.

4th Wrecking Havoc John Henry Contreras L

it is hard to try and sum up this race as everything finished in a heap, this one was finishing well at the end and was only beaten a neck into fourth. As we know another day and a different trip he could win or finish last in the same race so i am not sure this form can really be used to judge his future. I think he will do well as a five year old though so keep an eye on him.
