Three Year Olds Fillies Canada Breds

A field of the ten best Canadian bred three year old fillies have been rented up for the running of this years Woodbine Oaks. There is some very nice fillies in here and it looks like a very competitive race on paper. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Firekeepers (7-2-1-1 $102.180), trained by Team 7 Illusions

The first filly that we come across right here is coming into this race off of a win in the local prep which was the Fury Stakes. She ran a big race in there but that was going seven furlongs and she is stretching out in here. A nice filly but she has never went a route of ground so that’s a big question mark.

2. Blue Caviar (9-5-0-2 $346.600), trained by Waldo

The next filly in the race right here is coming into this spot off of a very good sixth place finish in the grade one KY Oaks. She closed very good that day and was only beaten a length in the end. I think if she repeats that race she will be very tough in here.

3. Highland Panther (11-4-4-1 $231.340), trained by Axeman

This next filly in the field is coming into this race off of a third place finish in an optional claimer on the turf here at Woodbine. She didn’t run a bad race that day but I don’t think she likes the grass as much. She will have to run a huge race to have a shot in here.

4. Southern Two Step (10-5-0-2 $387.940), trained by The Sidley Stud

Here is another one that is coming out of the KY Oaks but she did not run her best race that day and she finished tenth. She didn’t necessarily run terrible but I don’t think she really liked the mud all that much. I think if it is a fast track she will have a decent chance to hit the board.

5. Mademoiselle (11-2-2-3 $152.700), trained by Axeman

The second runner for this barn in the race and she is entering this one off of a win in an optional claimer on the mud at Golden Gate. She went wire to wire that day and won by three lengths. If she uses those same tactics she will need to slow the pace down up top to have enough left.

6. Stay Weird (3-1-0-0 $1.360), trained by Team 7 Illusions

This next filly here is one that I just do not give any chance to at all. Her only win was in a maiden claiming twenty on the free track and her other two starts have not been very great. Maybe she is in to help her stablemate out because she just doesn’t have a chance.

7. Run Away Swarley (7-1-1-0 $41.780), trained by Joshua Stables

This next filly is coming into this race off of two fourth place finishes in a row at Parx against allowance company. She didn’t really go for the slop last time as she was beaten by eight lengths. I just think that she is outclassed in this spot and she just doesn’t have much of a chance.

8. Kapalua (5-2-1-0 $67.120), trained by Smokey Stover

Here is another filly that is coming out of the local prep and she was a good second in the Fury Stakes. She hit the lead down the lane that day but was passed late but she still ran a good race. She is going to have to step it up big time to get the win in this spot though.

9. Camp Hollywood (10-3-1-2 $1,565.240), trained by Estero Farms

Last years Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies winner right here but she hasn’t been able to return to that form this year. She bas been running alright races but not like she is capable of in my opinion. I’m not giving up on her yet and I think she might run a big one in here.

10. Innocent Approach (9-3-1-2 $192.200), trained by Mb Stables

And the final filly in the field right here and she is entering this race off of a third place finish in the grade two Black Eyed Susan. She ran a good race that day and I think that she could maybe improve off of that. She has a tough post to overcome though and that’s the problem.

Summary

A pretty good field right here for sure and I think that about four of them could be very strong possibilities to win. My top pick is going to be Camp Hollywood as I just think she is the best filly in the field. She will need to turn it around but I think she can. Good luck to all.
