Can Max Take the “Game” at BEL?

6/11/22

6   BEL   The Just A Game (GI)

$500.000   F&M 4yo&Up     1m Turf       123lbs

A great field of eight ladies set to go a flat mile on the BEL turf and we look at the field for The Just A Game (GI).  I like hot barns and hot horses and I think Summers Day fits the bill.  She won in her second start for Maxmillion Farms after the private purchase, and looked good doing it… seems like enough to get the nod today.  Drop down to the rail and take a serious look at Rose Petals… the big barn has her sharp right now, and she comes from left field, closing late and with a smallish field, traffic should not be a big factor today unless she (a) gets left or (b) gets stuck down the lane… in this racing, who knows.

Here’s The Field –

1
Rose Petals    Mb Stables    Rocco J S Jr   123   9/2

Ran a big race to take the Beaugay (GIII) over this track in her most recent, and was on the board in two graded efforts prior to that win, so you have to give the big barn a big look in this one.  She’s a very consistent performer and has the class… she’s a threat.

2
   Emo Storm    Arindel    Moran D   123   6/1

Speedy filly that has been slamming on the brakes in the late stages of her recent efforts.  Set the pace in the Wilshire (GIII) at SA, but was caught late, then tired to be fourth in the Gallorette (GIII) at PIM last out.  Let’s see how far she goes today.

3
Summers Day    Maxmillion Farm    Jaramillo E   123   9/5

Looks like Max bought a nice won, ponying up $100.000 and she wins a nice race taking the CD Distaff Turf Mile (GII) in her second start for the new trainer.  She was fourth in the Monrovia (GII) as well, so she looks sharp and should be on all of your tickets today.

4
La Terrifiant    Smokey Stover    Gutierrez Mario   123   7/2

Solid handicap mare got back to the winning ways taking the Modesty (GIII) at CD last out, and she went wire to wire in that one.  She’s put a ton of cash in the bank and has to be give a big look every time she loads into the gate… same here.

5
   Versailles    D J C Racing Stables    Saez L   123   8/1

Beat OptAlw types to kick off the season and has two thirds vs graded stakes company as well.  She was third over this surface last out, that one in the Beaugay (GIII) and she closed a late gap in that one.  She could be part of this as well.

6
Charlotte de Shark    Aarons Hosses    Prat F   123   6/1

Purchased at the Sep Auction for $60.000 after a few starts and it’s been lights out since then.  She won an OptAlw at SA, then was the runner up vs. similar, won vs. the same at GP then took the Wilshire (GIII) last out, getting her her first stakes score, first time vs. such.  She could be any type and may be the one to get past today.

7
   Phoe Eva    Angelos Stable    Ferrer J C   123   9/2

Two wins from five starts this season including the Fox (GIII) at GP and the Royal Heroine (GII) at SA.  She was fifth as the 2/1 favorite in the CD Distaff Turf (GII), so she has to bounce back from that one, but she’s certainly capable of that.

8
   Belmont Strong    TwinTowersRacing    Gaffalione T   123   6/1

Named right for this one…  her ’22 win came vs OptAlw types at GG where she ran off an hid going a mile, and a repeat of that race would make her tough vs. any type… but can she find that magic again?  She’s tired late in her two recent races, and that has to stop.
