Can the Devil Do It Again?

The Hillsborough Stakes – Grade II
TAM Race #7 1 1/8m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $225.00 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1 By Far Ideal Maxmillion Farm Lynch F

The winner of four from ten she has shown enough to suggest she is yet another classy turfer for the turf king. She took the Frankel Stakes on her last appearance of the season and comes here after a few months off ready to pick up where she left off. If she can get to the stalk from this draw without getting shuffled back she should be right there at the end.

2 Blue Jeans First Class Stable Lanerie C J

A grade one runner up at two and three she doesnt win too often but has contested some of the top races at HRP for fillies. She has recently switched to turf and has yet to win but a second in the grade one American Oaks last year suggests she is as good on turf as she was on the dirt when winning the Black Eyes Susan last year. A tough and consistent sort who is drawn perfectly.

3 Devil Wears Prada Axeman Centeno D E

There are a couple of these older horses that come from the era of late development and this one is another who just keeps on winning. She was a brilliant fourth in the BC Fillies and mares turf last year as a seven year old and even now at eight proved last month she can still win graded stakes with a victory in the Suwanee River. With no signs of slowing down this great old mare can add yet another stakes win to her impressive record.

4 Free Kingdom Hambletonian Stable Boulanger G

With an almost fifty percent win record she clearly knows where the winning post is but tends to run in a lower grade and has bumped into a couple of good ones here. A decent filly, she is certainly not out of it but may be best looking for a place in this race.

5 Rainy Day Woman John Henry Lopez P

Draws the wide gate but seems to run best on the pace so may go to the front and dictate things in this race. If she gets a soft lead she may be tough to peg back but there are a couple of good ones inside her so she may find it too tough. A sub 1.35 work a few weeks back suggests that turf may be her best surface and her seasonal debut confirmed that when she won an FG overnight with contemptuous ease.

SUMMARY

Rainy Day Woman may just be the bolter in this race but ist hard to get past the great old mare Devils Wears Prada. Blue Jeans who is inside both of them deserves a win and who can write off anything from Maxmillion Farm on the turf. A tricky race but my heart says stick with the old devil.
