Can the Three’s Take Out The Gallorette Stakes

The Gallorette Stakes – Grade III
PIM Race #11 1 1/16m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $150.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

1    Stateside      High Voltage      Gaffalione T

Gets the three year old weight allowance which brings her right into the reckoning for a race like this. Second in the Durante last year she ran second again in the Herecomesthebride Stakes this season but disappointed a little in the Providencia Stakes last time. She got a bit back in that race and generally does better when closer early on and with this ace draw she has a good chance to do just that.

2      Graceful American       Nakamura Stables      Carrasco V R

Anything from this stable is a danger in these types of races and this five year old has good enough form from this draw to make a nuisance of herself. An easy win last time in a small TAM Allowance that may have done her confidence some good after a few recent poorer runs in graded company. Her works are sharp but i just wonder whether she has gone flat on her improvement curve and may find one or two too good here.

3      Gallant Beauty       Paradise Stable         Cruz An

A solid and consistent four year old she has yet to run in graded company but her easy all the way win in the Benson Memorial Stakes last time certainly looked like a filly who was moving up her improvement curve. If she can get away with an average pace lead she may be tough to peg back again.

4       Fancifully        Smokey Stover        Gutierrez Mario

A lightly raced four year old she improved nicely last year but after a good second in the La Prevoyante Handicap on seasonal debut she has been disappointing in two efforts in overnight company since. Her works are good enough but she may find this trip a bit sharp these days, a fast early pace and she could run them over at the end.

5       Silver Cobra       Arindel         Davis D

A three year old without a run on the turf who was pretty good on the dirt and recently laid down a good turf work…..looks like the winner to me. Sure there are plenty of reasons why she wont win but the trainer is in great form and very often these switches of surfaces can bring about a big run.

6      Party In The Brig         Mo Mentum Farm        Cedillo A

If it rains she could go very close to winning but on a dry track she may just find a few too good. She was only just behind Stateside in the Durante on a faster track so its not like she can’t run on the dry but she certainly seems better on wet tracks. She wont be far away come rain or shine.

7        Sheza Kat           John Henry          Jaramillo E

Beaten just a nose in the grade one DMR Oaks last year she could well have the best form in the race. She has taken her time this year but put it all together in the Sand Springs last time and a repeat of her efforts of last year will put her very close if she can overcome the draw.

SUMMARY

I think Silver Cobra should win here but it wont be by much and the race could be very different if the rains come. Sheza Cat and Fancifully may be the best challenge from the olders.
