#1 Kind Lassie (Hawaiian Shirt Guy/S. Ryan): Rail horse has cashed four checks in five races with a pair of wins and a couple place finishes. The second-best efforts were both in stakes before she tried G2 level in her latest. Made up ground, but came home 9th while only beaten two lengths. Probably needs to get back to being closer to the pace to run her best race in this one.
#2 Mora Bora (Oquinn Farm/F. Pennington): Bit of a hit-and-miss gal through her first three efforts. Won on debut then failed to fire in a SAR allowance, both on the dirt, before running second in restricted $100.000 turf stake. Looks like she will be pacey enough to keep in contact with the leaders and may be able to turn a profit with one of her better efforts.
#3 Olympia Dukakis (Threshold/J. Bravo): Took a trip around the track for a respectable fourth in debut before putting it all together last time. First two efforts saw her drop well back against sprint company so not sure how that form will translate for this assignment. If she really is devoid of early foot, may have to fear her coming down the lane if she can navigate the traffic she will most likely encounter.
#4 Queens Park (Mo Mentum Farm/P. Lopez): If that last effort can be forgiven, there’s a lot to like about this gal. Gets another crack at this state-bred stakes level for this and could go off at an attractive price. Looks to have plenty of pace in the afternoons even if she doesn’t really demonstrate it in the mornings. Better that than the other way around, but she has to make up a few lengths on a couple runners from that last effort to be a major factor here.
#5 Delight (Mb Stables/A. Cedillo): Filly won her debut on the front end, but she has employed different tactics for her last three efforts when at least three lengths off of the pace at the first call. Breaks from the middle of the pack here and it will be interesting to see how she decides to attack this group. First stakes try left a bit to be desired, but the two subsequent efforts have her trending in the right direction. With any improvement she should be a major factor when the money is on the line.
#6 Low Budget Java (Nakamura Stables/J.K. Court): Free track debut winner has been off for a while in preparation for this. Certainly is strutting her stuff in the mornings, but difficult to gauge how that sets her up for this assignment. If the works are not a mirage, this may be the filly getting her picture taken, but going to take a stand against and make her prove it in her first try against winners.
#7 Mystic Rhythm (Paradise Stable/V. Espinoza): BC-bred faces a deeper talent pool for this. Nothing wrong with the way she ran vs BC breds, but not sure how the HST form will translate to the WO layout. Seems to have options with how she tackles this group, but may need a little luck to work out the right trip from this tricky post position
#8 Canadian Flight (Mb Stables/L. Saez): Conditioner’s second entrant looks to be every bit as talented as her stablemate drawn three stalls inside of her. Three consecutive show efforts vs winners after winning on debut, but she’s only been beaten a total of four lengths. Two efforts from up on the pace and two efforts where she dropped a bit further back, so tactics will be a mystery until the starter springs the latch. Tough call, but going to say she fires from wherever she is asked.
#9 Laughing Poet (Maxmillion Farm/E.T. Baird): Hot barn sends out this lass after running a pretty good fourth in SAR G2 where she was only beaten a length for all of it. Looking at her three races, she may take a sharp left out of the gate in hopes of getting to the rail. If she can get there without dropping all of the way out, she looks like she is going to come with a run. Have to respect everything this barn is running at this meet and would not be surprised if she fires her best shot for this.
Final Analysis: 9-8-5 but the 6 deserves respect for her prowess in the mornings. Good luck to all of the participants in the $250.000 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at WO.
