Capella Rising May Be the Pick in an Even Spring Fever Field

Spring Fever Stakes
SA   Race #5   6f   Dirt   Stake
Purse $100.000  For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward Foaled In CA.

1 Beneficiary, trained by Team 7 Illusions
Has done ok in these sorts of races winning the Fleet Treat Stakes last year over a furlong further than this. She has looked a little out paced over this trip before and that would be my biggest fear for her today especially if she gets buried back on the rail. Her works are strong so there is no reason she can’t get over them late of things go her way.

2 Konfident Kitty, trained by Allinthegate
Never out of the first three and a winner of four from seven this will be the first real test for this daughter of Im Too Confident. She is a nice sort and her running style will suit the gate and with Bejarano in top form she must have a decent chance.

3 Cmon Yall, trained by Gdp Inc
looked to be a stakes horse as a two year old running third in the Tempted at grade three but wasnt tested at all during her three year old campaign winning four times at overnight level. Claimed for $20.000 at the end of last year her new owner took her straight back to stakes racing where she ran a good race after making the running to be third in the Hurricane Bertie. She has a good engine and is effective at this trip giving her a chance in this open race.

4 Capella Rising, trained by Stone Creek Farm
Another that looks to have been racing below her ability she has won 5 from 10 but all at a lower level. Claimed for $16.000 after a seasonal debut win at SA she looks much better than that and is working like a filly that can compete at this level. She is the dark horse here for sure and could be at nice odds.

5 Mucho Mucho Wild, trained by Hambletonian Stables
The stable is in fine form this year and this winner of 8 looks to have a chance. Like most of these she has been winning at a lower grade but her race times and works suggest she is in the mix and a recent run at allowance level will have sharpened her up.

6 Hidden Cabal, trained by Stone Creek Farm
Another in a similar group to the rest of the field she has won 7 from 15 and will be hard fit after two runs and a good win last time. The outside gate wont make it easy and she may be sacrificed as a pace horse for her stable mate so treat her chances with a little care.

SUMMARY
A nice even race with some nice horses that have been consistent at lower levels but havent broke through into graded stakes types. They are all working similar times as is the norm for HRP but i have a feeling that Capella Rising is an improver and she may be good enough at decent odds. As for the dangers then Beneficiary will be running on at the end and Mucho Mucho Wild is coming from an in form stable.
