Up to the Spa and the lush turf course, and sprinting females will be the call here as we look at a nice group set to go five and a half furlongs in the Caress (GIII).  I’m going with Supersede to turn the tables and get the job done here.  She was closing fast going a mile last out, but don’t be fooled, she can haul the mail.  Sister Dearest is my second selection today as this one just seems to keep rolling on.  She’s undefeated in four races and look good on the soggy WO course last out, taking graded horses to task and beat the top pick in that race.  I’m stuck between Cassandra G and Early Mornings for my third spot, so let’s just use that key-horse tri button, put the top two where they belong and try to nail down some cash with these two on the bottom of that ticket.  This is going to be a good one so grab a cold snack and let’s settle down near the rail for a good viewing spot.

Here’s The Field –

1
Angel Shark    John Henry    Davis D   123   7/1

Five starts this season and she’s still looking for her first picture.  She just missed last out after doing the heavy lifting in the Eatontown (GIII) at MTH going two turns.  So they shorten up looking to use her speed but does she have this kind of speed?

2
   Cassandra G    Angelos Stable    Jaramillo E   123   5/2

She’s a tough sprinting filly and hasn’t miss a check this year showing three wins, a pair of runner-ups and a third from those six starts.  She looked good winning the Monrovia (GII) in her most recent outing and another like that should have her right back in the winner’s circle.

3
Trippi Sprinkle    Gdp Inc    Franco M   123   6/1

Four wins this season in five starts which matches her wins from last season as well… yeah, she can run.  This is a step up in class for her, but maybe if we don’t tell her, she doesn’t’ know the difference.  If she can handle the move to graded foes, look out.

4
Truly Deeply Madly    Jive Inc.    Gonzalez Ru   123   5/1

They switch her over to the grass after a bunch of very good runs on the main track, but she was third in her only turf try.  Only one win this season and they came vs. NM-bred stakes company, so we have a change of surface and a major step up in class.

5
Sister Dearest    Rampage Stable    Rosario J   123   9/5

Hard to go past this one… four for four this season including a nice win in the Royal North Stakes (GII) up at WO, and that was a wet strip.  I think they could run it in the parking lot and she’d be tough to get past… you have to get by her if you want to win this one.

6
   Supersede    D J C Racing Stables    Velazquez J R   123   5/2

She’s a really nice filly, winning nine of eighteen starts and she has a pair of wins this season but is just two noses from doubling that count.  Just missed in the fore-mentioned Royal North (GII) and again in the Just A Game (GI) so you have to give her another big look today.  She should be right in the thick of things.

7
   A Chorus Line    Asgar   Ryan S   123   10/1

Has a pair of wins and a pair of runner-up finishes this season, but she’s been facing Alw horses for the most part and this is obviously a step up from there.  Her best racing has come at two turns and they shorten up, so I’ll look at some others.

8
Midnight Liquor    Winning Link Stables    Bridgmohan S X   123   8/1

Lightly raced with only five starts under her belt and she’s won two of those.  Was sixth in her first try vs. graded horses so I think I’ll watch her today… but this is a horse that certainly has some talent.

9
Gummy    High Voltage    Ortiz I Jr   123   6/1

Nice third last out when facing graded horses in the Daytona (GIII) on the SA down-hill course.  That’s been home for her as she seem to thrive on the hillside, so can she take that form over to the flat today?  She has speed and that is always dangerous.

10
Early Mornings    Mb Stables    Lezcano J   123   5/1

Another speed-ball that certainly deserves a second look as you head to the betting windows.  Three wins this season, nine for nineteen overall and has won three of her last four starts.  This is a step up in class, but the big barn knows what they have and you must consider her in the mix today.

11
   Amagasaki    Williams9    Cedillo A   123   7/1

She’s been a bit more of a miler than a sprinter but she was second at SA on the down-hill course, so she certainly shows an ability to go short.  She loves the grass, that’s for sure, so can she move up the ladder and make some noise?
