Much was on the line in the 15th running of the WO Mile, as an automatic bid into the BC Mile would await the winner. Heading into the race, it seemed as though Kimura would be the one to beat, but he would not be the story on this day. Instead, it was a gelding from Nakamura Stables named Iron Nation that would get the victory.

Every year, the Summer Stakes is one of the most competitive stakes out there for two year olds, providing an automatic bid to the BC Juvenile Turf. Not only that, but it is the first significant graded race for those two year olds that want to run a little longer, so the opportunity that it provides horses and trainers is pretty big.

Kimura Headlines WO Mile

The highlight of racing this weekend will happen north of the border, as the 15th running of the Grade 1 WO Mile goes to post. In addition to its appealing $1,000.000 purse, the race features an automatic spot for the BC Mile, the third “win and you’re in” race for that BC race which is now just six weeks away.
