6  KEE      Alcibiades (GI) [BC] [KYO]

                $350.000       2yo F          1 1/16m  Dirt     122lbs

If you followed our picks, you did ok in this one…  Mb Stables takes another win as Not A Big Deal proved that to be a poor name choice and the filly just keep racking up the scores, taking the Alcibiades (GI) by three-quarters of a length over her stable-mate, Feral Impact.  The final running time was 1:42.46 for the miles and a sixteenth over the KEE main track.  Hot Summer was another head back in third and Dan Patch got the minor money.

They loaded into the gate right in front of the grandstand and were away in good order with Golden Palace, Dan Patch and Hot Summer away quickly, down to the inside for Gabbiana, Sheeza Bombay, Pink The Sweep and Dirty Storm, then Feral Impact, Not A Big Deal, back to the outside for Profit Queen, Triple Trouble to the inside of that one and September Bourbon wide and last.

They made the short run to the clubhouse turn and moving through the turn and onto the backside with six furlongs to run, Golden Palace on the gas and in front by two, Dan Patch giving chase three wide, down to the rail for Hot Summer and Gabbiana, Sheza Bombay out wide and giving chase, another gap back to Dirty Storm between horses, Pink The Sweep on the rail, Feral Impact on her outside, Not A Big Deal just behind that trio, Triple Trouble five wide, September Bourbon even wider and Profit Queen was now the trailer.

The field made their way down the backside and were moving into the far turn with three furlongs to run, and Golden Palace continued to show the way by a length and a quarter.  Hot Summer trying to cut into that lead, Gabbiana to her inside, Dan Patch and Sheza Bombay on her outside, another length back to Feral Impact, Dirty Storm towards her inside, Pink The Sweep on the rail, then a length to the trio of Not A Big Deal between horses, Profit Queen towards the inside, Triple Trouble on the outside and September Bourbon could see them all, nine lengths covered the field.

Around the far turn and to the top of the lane, they were nearing the furlong marker and Hot Summer moved up quickly to gain a two length advantage.  Dan Patch from the three lane, Golden Palace on the rail and going in the wrong direction.  Out wider to Feral Impact, Sheza Bombay, Not A Big Deal moving well, back down to the inside for Gabbianaa and Pink The Sweep, Triple Trouble widest of all, back inside to Dirty Storm, Profit Queen and September Bourbon continued to trail.

Deep stretch and to the wire, Hot Summer with the lead, Not A Big Deal down the center of the track gaining with every jump, Feral Impact making it three across the track… but inside the final seventy five yards and to the finish, this was all about Not A Big Deal as she powered home to take the win by three-quarters of a length.  Feral Impact grabbed second just a head in front of Hot Summer, then a length to Dan Patch in fourth.  Sheza Bombay was another head back in fifth, Pink The Sweep sixth, Triple Trouble seventh, Dirty Storm and Profit Queen couldn’t be separated in eighth, Golden Palace tenth, Gabbiana eleventh and September Bourbon closed this one out.

Not A Big Deal is a 2yo bay filly by Carson Express – In Town, by Platoon, and she was bred in ON by Gustafson Stable.  Acquired by Private Purchase prior to her racing career, the Mb Stables charge now has five consecutive wins from six starts, the other a head-miss in her debut, and she has earnings of $500.580.  I think we have our early favorite for the BC Filly side of things!
