CC Jewel Tougher Than a Usual Starter Stakes

The CC Jewel – NG
12/5/20
GP Race 13 1 1/8M – Dirt
Purse $150.000
Three Year Olds and Up

Here we are for this years running of the Claiming Crown Jewel at Gulfstream Park. This is the biggest starter stakes on the year for horses who usually run in claiming races. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Bavarian Motor Works (17-4-2-2 $92.240), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Scratched

2. Plucky Ben (31-8-3-2 $320.360), trained by Arindel

First one to look at here who is in the field and he is coming into this race after pretty much running all of his career races on turf. No wins on the dirt in four starts on the surface just do not think he appreciates the dirt.

3. The Shake (22-4-3-4 $206.960), trained by Luz International

Next up here is a horse who is going to be going a route for thefirst time in quite a while. Won an allowance at Turf Paradise last time but big jump up in class here. Going to have to run a huge race to win.

4. Puppet Master (7-0-2-3 $17.520), trained by Spankys Barn

Moving onto the maiden here who I’m just going to flat out say has almost zero chance. Not good enough to win this race.

5. Move On (13-5-4-1 $72.890), trained by Invicta Group Llc

A competitor in last years Claiming Crown but he was in the Rapid Transit last year. He won an allowance at Tampa at the distance last time so could have an alright chance to win in here.

6. Fortaleza (17-3-4-1 $393.980), trained by Mb Stables

Next up the horse who I think is going to be very tough here. His biggest race was a narrow second in the Queens Plate during the summer at Woodbine. If he runs that race here he will be the horse to beat.

7. Nb Forrest (8-4-0-1 $141.700), trained by Greeko Holdem

Another one here who I think has a good shot and he is coming off of a win in the Bryan Station on Breeders Cup Weekend. I think he could have a pretty good at winning this race for sure.

8. Akkadian (24-8-5-4 $505.410), trained by Night Rider Stables

The runner for Raj right here and he is coming into this race off of a lot of sprint races. I think he is a better sprinter but he can go the distance. I think he could hit the bottom of the board at the least.

9. Tudor One (13-4-2-2 $334.200), trained by Mb Stables

Another one for Mb Stables right here and this horse was a Kentucky Derby starter this past year. Also been sprinting in his last couple but the distance is not an issue. Good shot for him also.

10. Enchanted Fear (12-3-5-2 $104.860), trained by Our Athletes

A horse true to the starter stakes idea here as he almost always is competing in some sort of claiming race. Always right there in the money and has a shot of at least hitting the board.

11. Aerialist (7-2-3-1 $51.890), trained by Mb Stables

Third and final horse for Mb Stables in the race and he has only started once for the barn and it was a very impressive win. Maybe a sort of dark horse in this field.

12. Guy Lafleur (14-4-3-1 $186.790), trained by John Henry

Another one for John Henry in the field and this horse is also a stakes winner on the year. Disappointing in his last two and a bad post makes me think he won’t have a huge shot.

13. Seagraves (17-7-2-3 $358.930), trained by John Henry

Last runner in the field and third for John Henry here and this is a pretty solid horse for sure. But he has a terrible post especially at this distance and I just do not see him making a huge impact.

Summary

Well for a starter stakes this is a very tough race with some actual graded stakes caliber horses in the field. Mb Stables looks very tough like always. Good luck to all in the field.
