Cellmate to Get Out of Jail in The GP Turf Sprint

The GP Turf Sprint – Grade III
GP Race #7 5f Turf Graded Stake
Purse $100.000 For Four Year Olds And Upward.

1 Shelbags Lindeman Prairie Lebron V

This six year old is in a very good frame of mind at the moment and has built a solid record recently. A strong winner of the Janus on seasonal debut in a very slick 56 and 1 he is not the most accomplished sprinter in the field but i wouldn’t be surprised if he ran very well.

2 Nick At Night Supremebeast Prado E S

A seven year old winner of eleven races his best races have come on the free track which is a long way from a grade three at GP. Having said that he is working as well as most of the field and this is HRP so why not have a go.

3 Cold Weather Rider Night Rider Stables Panici L

A real classy dour type of sprinter he is very consistent at this level the only thing against him is this trip may be a bit sharp for him these days. He ran a typically game race on seasonal debut when third in the Hernandez Stakes and he must represent one of the better chances.

4 Brilliant Kruz Estero Farms Vasquez M A

Took a while to break maidens and was then thrown in the deep end as a three year old. He came up a bit short at this level last year but looks a bit improved on works this year so he may just surprise a few.

5 Eggs And Bacon John Henry Berrios H I

This one was a top two year old winning the grade one Summer before a close third in the BC Juvenile Turf. On that sort of form his three year old campaign can only be described as disappointing and he was eventually entered in the end of year auction. John Henry picked him up at a remarkably cheap $46 and he proved a very nice buy as he stepped out after that and won a nice optional claimer over this course and distance. At his best he is head and shoulders above these and i must admit i think he may have just found a new lease of life.

6 Pizza Night Arindel Maragh Ro

He won a $16 claimer faster than most of these can run over this course and distance and has also worked faster than most of these so he could easily be one of those HRP specials. Claimer to grade three winner, why not!

7 Cliffs Of Dover Spankys Barn Kimura K

Another who has always looked better than his results he is looking for that old HRP hack which is having his first run on a new surface. Fast enough on dirt if he turns it on on the turf he could be another with a chance.

8 Long Term Investment TwinTowersRacing Bracho J A

A grade tree winner over a mile on the dirt, fifth in a grade one over ten furlongs and today we find this one in a five furlong grade 3 sprint. Only at HRP ay, well he is working much the same as everything else and whilst a win wouldn’t be a complete shock it is hard to make a case for him from this awkward draw.

9 Dragon Storm Bomberracing Albarado R J

We have claimers, graded stakes winners and dirt runners having their first run on the turf so its only fitting that we have a starter allowance winner at lowly TUP as well. The funny thing is regardless of all those differences all these runners seem to be able to work the sub 58 required to win a race like this. A tough draw but not impossible to see him winning.

10 Cellmate Bears Stable Pino M G

Won in 56 flat on seasonal debut so must be considered but has been handicapped with the wide draw which plagued him through the second half of last year. A decent draw and i could see him running well and of course he still might as he certainly has the speed and form to go very close to winning.

11 Snakie Authorization Patterson Stables Zayas E J

Like a lot of good horses these days we have seen this one race from a mile and three sixteenths all the way down to five and a half furlongs and on his day he can run with the best of them over any trip. Today he has a go at five furlongs on the turf one of the few distance and ground combinations he hasn’t tried yet and as he is also working pretty much the same as everything else we can only guess as to how he will cope with it. He has run third a grade one level so if he handles the draw who knows he could be a contender.

SUMMARY

This race pretty much sums up life at HRP. Claimers, stakes winners, dirt horses all working the same sort of times and all capable on their day of winning. At the end of this race whoever wins will have a strong case as to why they won so it isn’t the easiest race to tip a winner for. I am going for Cellmate who is a very fast individual to beat Cold Weather Rider.
