Chaos Breaks Out in The NY Derby

  2    FL     THE NY DERBY

$150.000    3yo Foaled in NY      1 1/16m  Dirt          120lbs +penalties

Another Derby, another win for Mb Stables as Chaos Broke Out takes The NY Derby at FL.  Staying close to the pace throughout, the bay gelding got up in the final strides to win by a neck in a final time of 1:42.18 for the mile and a sixteenth, NY bred fixture.  The End did all of the heavy lifting but could not hold off the winner, settling for the place, then a length back to Sexy Back in third.

Korean Boyband scratched out of the rail position and left us with a field of eight and as they got away from the starting gate, The End was away well from the far outside, Jak The Ripper giving chase to that one, Chaos Broke Out from the outside, Valiant Commander next, and The Good Doctor between that pair, Midnight Bisou along the rail, Cairn Toul and Sexy Black was the early trailer.

The field moved around the clubhouse turn and onto the backside with a bit more than five and a half furlongs to run, The End continuing to show the way by a length.  Jak The Ripper tracking that one, Chaos Broke Out now a close-up third, Cairn Toul caught four wide, The Good Doctor just to his inside, Valiant Commander between horses, Midnight Bisou on the rail and Sex Back was at the back.

Down the backside and into the far turn with three furlongs remaining, The End still on cruise control and in front by a length and a half.  Chaos Broke Out now tracking that one, Cairn Toul moving up three wide, Jak The Ripper putting the cue in the rack, four wide to The Good Doctor, Valiant Commander on the inside of that one, Midnight Bisou to his inside as Sexy Black now got an interest, moving close five wide.

Swing around the far turn and into the lane, they were nearing the furlong marker and The End had company as Chaos Broke Out moved up quickly to look that one in the eye.  A gap of three back to Cairn Toul, then a group of four swinging out wide for the drive that included Sexy Black widest of all, Valliant Commander, The Good Doctor and Midnight Bisou as Jak The Ripper was not the back marker.

Deep stretch and to the finish, Chaos Broke Out in front by a neck, The End wasn’t done and tried to fight back… but to no avail as Chaos Broke Out went under the wire in front by a neck, giving Mb Stables yet another stakes victory.  The End continued on well for the place, then a length back to the closing Sexy Back, Cairn Toul nosing out Midnight Bisou for fourth, Valiant Commander nosing The Good Doctor for sixth and Jak The Ripper tired to be last in the field of eight.

Chaos Broke Out is a 3yo bay gelding by Majestic Mayhem – Ye Fox, by Ye Charley, and he was bred in NY by Night Mare Racing.  Purchased via private sale in Aug of last year, he now shows four wins from eight starts and earnings of $184.610.

Chaos Broke Out broke alertly, stalked the pace to the furlong marker, up to challenge, cleared foe late, won driving.  The End broke fastest of all, set the pace to just inside the furlong pole, could not hold off the winner in a game effort.  Sexy Back taken well back off of the pace, allowed to trail while unhurried, moved up through the far turn, swung six wide for the drive, closed a late gap.  Cairn Toul off a step slow, up to race mid-pack, evenly.  Midnight Bisou under hold, passed tiring foes.  Valliant Commander raced evenly while no threat.  The Good Doctor raced mid-pack, ranged up into the lane, flattened out.  Jak The Ripper tracked the lead to the far turn, nothing left.
