Cherokee Sunset Adds to Her Legacy in NY Stallion Stakes – Joy

NY Stallion Stakes – Joy
7 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Filly 3 Year Olds Foaled In NY.

1st Beggars Benison Team 7 Illusions Carmouche K

It seems sometimes that you just have to have the name Cherokee Sunset in your first line of breeding to guarantee a stakes win at some point in your career. This filly has been hovering around a win at this level for a while and today found this specialist trip to her liking winning cozily by a length, taking advantage of the wide draw.

2nd Ete Creek Gdp Inc Ortiz I Jr

Option B was chosen from the wide draw and she went way way back to hunt for the rail. Sure enough she flew home but it comes down to a bit of luck when your do that and she left it a length too late. A nice effort and she is looking more and more like a filly with a turf preference.

3rd Win Silly Team 7 Illusions Lezcano J

This very consistent filly stayed on well for third but never looked like a winner. She will get herself more wins but has that bridesmaid look about her.

4th What To Wear Gustafson Stable Davis D

Went for option A from the wide draw and just like the runner up needed some luck to win in the form of a slower pace but she went far too fast. The option A result went as usual and she weakened back into fourth.
