Cheyenne Lame Foot Gets it Done in KD Juvenile

KD Juvenile – $500.000 Purse
KD – For Two Years Old
One Mile – Turf

The KD Juvenile turned out to be a thriller. Two evenly matched juveniles came from off the pace to put on a show in the stretch. In the end it was Cheyenne Lame Foot (Kopites) breaking his maiden by a neck. I know I discounted his chances due to his maiden status, but none of that mattered when the gates opened.

Fiduciary jumped out to an early lead, with Vieux Jeu (Acber Farms) and Laffin Brick Road (Mb Stables) last and the rest of the field spread across the track between them. Cheyenne Lame Foot fell back toward the trailers after a furlong and a half.

Fiduciary (Mo Mentum Farm) continued to lead into the turn with Sons Of Anarchy (Nakamura Stables) and American Grandeur (TwinTowers Racing) vying for second and Dadonov (Arindel) just to their outside. Cheyenne Lame Foot was content in fifth with Vieux Jeu and Laffin Brick Road still trailing.

Around the turn, American Grandeur and Sons Of Anarchy turned up the pressure on Fiduciary on the front. Dadonov hung tough to their outside. Cheyenne Lame Foot had not started to run and Vieux Jeu closed the distance between them.

With three and a half furlongs to run, American Grandeur took the lead. Vieux Jeu moved up on the outside while Cheyenne Lame Foot went up the middle. Cheyenne Lame Foot split horses and set his sights on the leader. Vieux Jeu emerged from the pack on the outside. These two hooked up with a furlong to run. They quickly opened up on the field, Cheyenne Lame Foot in front by less than a length. Vieux Jeu couldn’t get past him and settled for second just a neck back, with American Grandeur five lengths back in third.

The son of Cheyenne out of Fifty Farley (Charley Farley) broke his maiden in style, taking home the lion’s share of the purse and increasing his career earnings to $360.510. Congratulations to Cheyenne Lame Foot and Kopites!
