SAR Race #10 $600.000

F&M 4+ 123 Lbs 13/8 Inner Turf

G1 BC F&M TURF AUTO-QUALIFIER

Course Record-2:10.95 (Mean Street-2016)

Stakes Record-2:12.20 (Zalinda-2021)

La Terrifiant qualified for her 6th consecutive run in a BC race with a front-running tour-de-force in Saturday’s G2 Flower Bowl at SAR.  The wonder mare sports a 50-19-9-6 race record and has now amassed a mind-boggling $7,655.000 in earnings after taking her share of the $600.000 purse.  It will be interesting to see if the Smokey Stover-trainee runs one more time before the BC or if they choose to train her up to her November engagement.  Either way, La Terrifiant will be a problem for everyone else in the G1 BC F&M Turf.

Breaking from post two, La Terrifiant raced along the inside of Build Battle through fractions of :48.08 and 1:11.81 early on.  She dispatched that rival leaving the five-eighths pole and quickly began amassing a lead that would never be threatened.

Although the chart may say she was only a length ahead after a mile went in 1:35.45, there was never a time where La Terrifiant looked anything other than a winner.  Perfectly Pink would rally into the place spot, but she was almost a full length behind as the winner hit the wire in 2:12.34.  Build Battle kept to her task and saved the show by just a nose from Sweetness.  Starship Twister, Maggie Greene, Loihi, and Maya Caribe completed the order of finish.

Regardless of whether she wins the 3rd BC race of her career, La Terrifiant has shown herself to be one of the greatest mares in the history of our game.  She and Smokey Stover (as well as Our Athletes earlier in her career) deserve our appreciation for the career she has put together.  Congratulations to both horse and trainer on another sublime performance in the G2 Flower Bowl!
