Chicago Stakes Looks Like Wide Open Affair

AP will be the venue for the 2021 Chicago Stakes (GIII), a seven furlong sprint for the ladies and this looks to be a fairly wide open affair where you can make a case for a bunch of them.  I landed on Deliberate Miss as the top choice.  I know she hasn’t won this year but she look way over-due for a win and has been very consistent running against graded horses.  Let’s stay on the Mb Stables bandwagon and put Diamond Dealer in the second spot.  She’s another that never seems to run a bad race, and has been tough while facing graded horses…

This should be a good one!

Here’s The Field –

1
Diamond Dealer    Mb Stables    Carroll D   124   3/1

Consistent type that always seems to be around when they hand out checks.  Her ’21 win came vs Alw horses at FG, so she will need to step it up to get the win, but I’d certainly keep her on my exotic tickets.

2
Tommy Frazier    John Henry    Loveberry J   124   7/1

Closed out ’20 with a win in the Sugar Swirl (GIII) at GP, but she’s still looking for her first win of this season.  She was third at GP in the Hurricane Bertie (GIII) and another like that would put her in the thick of this one.

3
Lady Sammyantha    The Sidley Stud    Achard A   119   6/1

Nice win at WO taking down ON-bred stakes types and takes the step up to graded horses here today, where she has struggled prior.  She beat two at SA vs graded foes, so she has to keep this thing at a high level to get after this group.

4
   Last Lady    Lindeman Prairie    Felix J E   119   10/1

Has proven to be a sharp claim, the hostile takeover coming at the $8.000 level, and she won an Alw race at first asking, then came right back to be second at KEE vs. graded horses.  That last out effort was another step up as she was fifth in the Black Eyed Susan (GII)… this may be a bit more to her liking.

5
Later Latte    Royalty Stables    Bowen R   124   7/1

Four wins from her eight lifetime starts but she has had a rough go of it vs. graded horses.  She was fourth in The Azeri (GII) and then eighth in the Apple Blossom (GI), both over the OP track.  That can be a tough place for some horses and she did win last out at CT, beating Alw types.  She will need her best.

6
   Deliberate Miss    Mb Stables    Emigh C A   124   3/1

She is still looking for her first win of the ’21 season but has a pair of runner-up starts, including last out in the Vagrancy Hcp (GIII).  She won the Bayakoa Hcp (GIII) last season, and has eight wins to her credit… you have to give her a big look in this one.

7
Helen Served    Night Rider Stables    Roman C   124   6/1

Kicked-off the season with an Alw win at FG and was fourth last out in the Ruffian (GII) at BEL at big odds.  Third prior to that in an ovenight sprint stakes at AQU, but she has some talent and could be fairly nice odds, so I’d use her on the exotics.

8
Uzume    Nakamura Stables    Perez Edg   124   10/1

She’s always around and hasn’t missed a check this season, but this is a major move up the ladder, class wise.  Her lone ’21 win was at TUP taking down Alw horses there.  This is going to be a big of an acid bath compared to her recent competition, but she does have some back class.
