Class and Money Are Story in The JC Gold Cup

There’s a lot on the line in this as we get a stellar group of older gents to go a mile and a quarter in The JC Gold CUP (GI) here in Elmont NY. Many of these have battled against each other before, so there aren’t a lot of secrets to hide… these guys know each other.

I’m going to give the slightest of edges to Space Commander here today. He looked good going a mile and a half last out, taking the Greenwood Cup (GIII) and that rest from May-July seems to have him on his toes right now. Third back after a rest and he looked full of himself last out so… Groovy is just a 3yo but he’s running big and looked good taking the Dandy (GII) in his most recent. The distance is a bit of a concern to me, but he has tactical speed and sure does look sharp right now.

Chaleys Latte is another 3yo that is looking to get back to the winner’s circle and may be sitting on a big race and I’d probably like American Phuegoah a bit more if he weren’t parked out in that far outside post.

A bunch of these have some major wins and may be suffering through a bit of a lull, but they could spring up and take a big win at any moment, so this should be a great race to watch.
