7 SA Beholder Mile (GI)

We have a field of nine fillies and mares set to go a flat mile here at SA and we look at the field for the Beholder Mile (GI). This is a very nice group and we get the 2020 F&M Sprint Champion as La Marseillaise will look to stretch out a bit in this one, but her wins at seven panels sure does make her hard to go past today. She will throw a bad race, but her best is certainly very very good. Another star at this level is Orange Beach and I’ll look for her to be a major factor in this one as well. She won over this track last out so that’s another reason to give her hard look. Another that has won on a big stage, I’ll put On The Flop in the third spot. She was fourth over this track last out and if she can put one of her best out there today, she could be in the middle of things. It’s really hard to fault any of these, so grab a cold-snack and let’s get a good spot to watch this one.
Here’s The Field –
Purchased from the Dec Auction for $100.000 and paid instant dividends winning a LA-bred stakes at DED. She had a very consistent 20 season, on the board in eight of nine and three of those were victories. She was third in the Bloom Hcp (GII) at BEL, so she can run with this type of competition.
Nice win over this track last out taking the Santa Monica Stakes (GII) in her second start after a bit of a rest. That was a nice group she beat and should set her up to be a major factor in this one as well. A bad race for her is a rare thing, so certainly use her on all tickets.
Two wins last season and they were nice races as she scored in the Spinster (GI) at KEE and kept things going into 21 as she won the Inside Information (GII) to kick-off the new year. She was a tiring sixth on a track labeled good at LRL, so we can get her an excuse there and look for her to bounce back today.
Only a single win in 20 at the Alw level, but her on the board efforts still gave her a nice bankroll. If she could run back to those second-place finishes in the Apple Blossom (GI) or Personal Ensign (GI) then she would be tough. She will need to improve to get back into that form.
Her three wins last season certainly helped her earnings as she won The PID Masters (GII) which carries a nice paycheck. Her two 21 starts have been less than thrilling, but she will run a couple of bad races only to flash brilliance. Give her a look at a price.
Got back on the winning side of things taking the Fritchie (GIII) at LRL last out. She won four races last season from only nine starts so she certainly knows how to get her picture taken and she is the current F&M Sprint Champion after winning the BC F&M Sprint (GI). She’s the real deal, no doubt about it.
Big run at OP taking the Bayakoa (GIII) last out where she ran off to win by three in that one. She had three wins from eight starts last year and some big wins including the Cotillion Stakes (GI). She was third on BC Day, so she should be a big factor here as well.
Second in the aforementioned Bayakoa (GIII) but won her 21 debut taking the La Canada (GII) over this strip, so home cookin’ may be a good thing for her. She had a pair of wins last season including a DH victory in the DEL Hcp (GII). Give her a chance.
Five wins in the 20 season from twelve starts and was fourth in her 21 debut. She was very competitive in graded races, and a couple of lengths could have made for a huge year. Can she pick that up and make a splash?
