1st Commanding Brit, trained by Lemax Farms
Broke well and was able to make his way to the rail while dueling with Saturday Khartoum. Set fast fractions and pulled away from Saturday Khartoum after a half mile. Opened a two-length lead as they entered the stretch and was able to hold off a fast charging Out On A Limb.
2nd Out On A Limb, trained by Smokey Stover
Quickly dropped to the back of the field 9 lengths from the lead. Was unable to save ground and raced 5 wide around the turn. Rallied strongly down the center of the track and was gaining quickly on the winner at the wire.
3rd Mancini, trained by Our Athletes
Took up a nice stalking position 2 lengths from the lead as they moved down the backstretch. Raced 3 wide around the turn has he maintained his position. Took over 2nd as they entered the stretch but was unable to make up any ground on the eventual winner and got caught by Out On A Limb for the place.
4th In Captivity, trained by Mb Stables
Raced 3 wide 6 lengths from the lead for the first half mile. Swung out as they entered the stretch and looked poised to be a major factor however he continued to drift wider in the stretch as he was tiring.
Summary
Well the early part of the race went as predicted in the preview as Commanding Brit and Saturday Khartoum battled through fast fractions for a half mile. However Commanding Brit had no intention of stopping there as he continued to win in impressive time. Perhaps this was the breakthrough he needed to take him to the next level. Out On A Limb was flying at the end but left himself too much to do. He did once again prove he seems to be just a bit better than Mancini. In Captivity seemed to need a race as he came up flat in the stretch and Viking Fuse was making a big move when he ran into a wall of horses and was stopped in his tracks.
