7 KEE BC Juvenile Fillies Turf – (GI)
$1,000.000 2yoF 1m Turf 122lbs
Scotty was high on Common Misconception and he nailed this one as the Nakamura Stables conditioned filly broke well, settled back into the field, then exploded down the lane to go clear by a length and take the BC Juv Fillies Turf (GI) by a length at 50/1 odds. She completed the mile in 1:333 and remains undefeated at KEE, also winning the Jessamine (GII). Casting Couch Cutie did most of the heavy lifting, setting the pace through most of this one, but just couldn’t go on with the winner, settling for the second spot. It was a neck back to the fast closing Stargazing in third and Shes A Super Freak a head back in fourth and taking the minor money.
The full field of fourteen entered the starting gate on the lush KEE turf course, the flag went up, the gates flew open and we were off and running with Recession on the early gas, Dukes Pink to her inside, Casting Couch Cutie on her outside, back to the rail for Painville, Common Misconception and Daratoga G, Gaeilic Wonder from the far outside, back to the middle of the track for Shes A Super Freak, Stargazing and Down In The Gulley, Abracadabra was next, Crispr, Bring It On and Shes One Of A Kind was the early trailer.
They made the short run to the clubhouse turn, around the turn and now onto the backside with five and a half furlongs to run and Casting Couch Cutie was in front by nearly a length, Recession to her inside, Gaeilic Wonder wide and chasing the top pair, Dukes Pink four wide, Painville along the rail, Shes A Super Freak five wide, back down towards the inside for Daratoga G and Common Misconception. Another length and a half back to Stargazin, Down In The Gulley to her inside, Abracadabra six wide, Crispr towards her inside, then a gap back to the trailing pair of Shes One Of A Kind and Bring It On.
They made the run down the back stretch and now into the far turn with three-eighths of a mile to run and Casting Couch Cutie continued to show the way by a length and three-quarters. Gaeilic Wonder three wide and in striking position, Recession on the rail giving chase, then a gap of three back to a group that included Painville on the rail, Dukes Pink three wide, Daratoga G between that pair and Shes A Super Freak four wide. Another two lengths back to Common Misconception saving ground, Stargazing three wide and Down In The Gulley between that pair, Abracadabra four wide, two more back to Crispr and Shes One Of A Kind and Bring It On continued to trail.
Around the far turn and into the lane, they went past the three-sixteenth’s pole and Casting Couch Cutie was in front by a bit more than two lengths. Gaeilic Wonder chasing from the outside, Recession cutting the corner on the rail, Common Misconception found a seam along the inside and was moving forward, Daratoga G with a clean shot in the three path, Shes A Super Freak widest of all and Painville in the three path. Dukes Pink just in behind that wall of horses, Stargazing and Down In The Gulley towards her inside, then a length back to Shes One Of A Kind, Abracadabra, Bring It On and Crispr.
Now inside the final sixteenth and to the finish, Casting Couch Cutie was trying to go to the wire with the lead, but Common Misconception went right on by towards her inside and this was her race as nothing else could move with her and she went under the wire in comfortable fashion. Casting Couch Cutie finished well to be second, Stargazing a neck back in third, just a head in front of Shes A Super Freak in fourth. Bring It On was fifth, Daratoga G in sixth, Gaeilic Wonder seventh, Down In The Gulley eighth, Shes One Of A Kind ninth, Abracadabra tenth, Recession eleventh, Crispr twelfth, Painville thirteenth and Dukes Pink closed this one out.
Common Misconception is a 2yo bay filly by Take Dead Aim – Common Malady, by Brave Decision and she was bred by her owner, Nakamura Stables, in Cal. This was her fourth win from six starts and she now shows lifetime earnings of $745.400. Congratulation to the connections!

Common Misconception broke alertly, taken back off of the pace through the turn using a ground saving trip, split horses into the lane, kicked clear just before the sixteenth pole, won driving. Casting Couch Cutie forwardly placed into the first turn, took the lead entering the back stretch, clear lead into the lane, collared near the sixteenth pole, second best. Stargazing broke in hand, settled while unhurried racing in the three path, closed well with her best foot coming late. Shes A Super Freak wide into the first turn, continued to race wide down the back stretch, some late gain. Bring It On off a step slow, trailed through the backside, passed tiring rivals. Daratoga G good early speed, tracked the pace up close into the lane, flattened out. Gaeilic Wonder wide into the first turn, crosses over into the back-stretch while pressing the leader, tired. Down In The Gulley four path into the first turn, taken back to find an inside spot, never fired. Shes One Of A Kind missed the break, wide trip, not a factor. Abracadabra rated early, wide trip, never involved. Recession away from the gate quickly to lead through the clubhouse turn, tracked the pack to the far turn, stopped. Crispr was outrun throughout. Painville saved ground while forwardly placed, tired. Dukes Pink wide trip, outrun.
