There’s a Precise Performance in BC Distaff

BC Distaff – Grade I

1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $2,000.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Precise Performance

Mb Stables

Franco G

With the wide horse running a rabbit like pace this race was to come down to which closer found a way through. I guess we can say that this horse had Moses at least on her side today because it was her who found the sea parting in front of her and burst through to win.To be fair she would have been an unlucky loser had she not got through and though but plenty didn’t today however was her day. Starting favorite after he unlucky loss in the Cotillion followed a gutsy Alabama win when she got through she won with a bit in hand and whilst being a three year old certainly helps in these BC races she looks like she will still be around next year to defend her crown.

2nd Drink Me Pretty

Estero Farms

Hernandez

Though she too had to hunt around for gaps she had her chance but had to make her run near the far rail after being pushed wider and wider to find a run. She couldn’t match the winners finish and that may have been down to the wide trip she had but she stayed on well enough and was a very good second today. It was the rabbit like pace which made it tough for her and to be fair many others and she never had a chance to find the stalk which is where she is happiest.

3rd Pocono Fashion

Nakamura Stables

Carrasco V

Looked like she was going to go and win the race down the stretch but it was such a strange finish with closer’s rushing off the fast pace and leaders weakening that the result was always going to be decided inside the final furlong. Unlike in the Cotillion last time she couldn’t finish the job and got run down n the end for a game third.

4th Tenrikyo Smokey Stover Davis D

She went wide to deliver her challenge and looked really ominous coming into the final furlong but like Pocono Fashion was always vulnerable to the closers who made their runs just a little later. She won the Spinster in the same time over the same course as the winner won this race, but today due probably to her wide trip she could only finish fourth. Still an excellent effort from last years runner up and she gets the rosette for being the first four year old home denying the three year olds a clean sweep.

Others

It has to be said that The Belle Tolls was as close as you could get to a rabbit in a race where rabbits had been taken away, but you cannot blame Allinthegate for trying what many others have in the past by sacrificing one wide draw for another. The horse that was meant to benefit was Fabulous Angelina but she inexplicably chose to make her run up the backside of the weakening stable companion. If there was a horse to follow out of this race it is her because she was finishing the last half furlong faster than anything else. Z Command was another one that ran a great race but found herself wide and searching for gaps all the way down the stretch but that could probably be the same excuse for half the field today.
