Undefeated Composure continued her streak with this dramatic win. Her other wins had painted her as a deep closer, but here she showed the patience of a stalker as she laid a couple of lengths off in third, then second as they entered into the stretch where she eliminated that difference and won by a head.

2nd       Its Yesterdays                  Blazin D               4-1 HRP *7-5 SRF

Up to this race, all of Its Yesterday’s races have all been sprints, but she showed that her deep closing style is perfect routing as she laid back in sixth her usual four lengths back and as usual, made her move around the far turn, closed courageously down the stretch and just missed by a head.

3rd      Goodfire Pink          La Canada Racehorses            11-1 HRP 6-1 SRF

Goodfire Pink also had only sprints on her resume coming up to this race, but I mentioned in mt preview that her works indicated she could stretch out and stretch out she did… better than I expected. She came out of the gate ready to fight and took up the lead and found Little Warrior Miss a willing challenger for a quarter until she began to fade, then as Goodfire Pink began to pull clear, Composure came into the picture and ran her down by a length.

4th      Ideal Lucy                        D J C Racing Stables         5-1 HRP 8-1 SRF

Ideal Lucy gave an even performance always fifth to the stretch about four lengths back and moved into fourth  when Little Warrior Miss faded.
