1 Uzume Aer Stables Bridgmohan S X

She has been busy in the top grades but still only boasts the one win from eight attempts. Third in the grade 2 Sorrento Stakes over this trip last year she started the year with a close third in the Santa Ynez Stakes but has struggled a little when upped in trip for her last two and may appreciate this drop back to sprinting. This is a decent filly that always tries hard but i am not convinced she will battle in a close finish so may think of her more of a place chance.

2 Zero Twist John Henry Centeno D E

Another that was doing well at sprinting before being stepped up in trip she didn’t do too badly in her attempt in the SUN Oaks from a wide draw but certainly proved last time that she is more at home over this sort of distance. She was game in winning the NY Stallion Series race last time and gets the perfect draw for her style of running for this race albeit a bit of a step up in grade. A progressive sort who has a good chance.

3 Cream Soda Greeko Holdem Velazquez J R

It seems a common thing to stretch out the good three year olds to try and take on the classics and its also common that we often see them coming back to this sort of race if things don’t go well. She did very well to be second in the FG Oaks beaten just a quarter lengths and then ran pretty well in the Fantasy when making ground into sixth. Her works say she can sprint and she is a stakes winner at this trip so she may just be the top pick here.

4 Vegas Show Hen Our Athletes Beschizza A

Fourth in the Santa Ynez just a half length off Uzume she hasn’t done so well since and she needs to recapture her best to be a contender here.

5 Start The Mummy Axeman McCarthy T

Back to overnight grade in her recent races after failing at graded stakes level she seems a nice enough sort but may find a couple too good here.

6 Z Is For Zero First Street Stables Court J K

She has made the perfect progression through the grades taking the grade three Beaumont last time in gutsy fashion, Clearly a sprinter on the up she may just find she is beaten by the penalty today though.

7 Irrefutable Mb Stables Gryder A T

Beaten just a half length in the Davona Dale when third she disappointed in the GP Oaks last time and drops back in trip to try and get back to the form that saw her run up four straight wins to those two efforts. Clearly a filly with ability and from the mighty Mb Stables she may start favorite but she i think the draw will pose enough of a problem to see her beat.

8 Spy On Hollywood Estero Farms Davis D

The most interesting runner in the field she has never had any favors from the random draw generator but has coped pretty well at overnight level and i would give her a decent chance if the race engine doesn’t beat her up. An out and out sprinter which may be an advantage against some that have covered a few miles recently she is the ringer for me in this race.

SUMMARY

I think Cream Soda has all the right form for this race and could just prevail. I like Spy On Hollywood as a slider from left field too.
