Dali The Viking Puts the BC Behind Her

The Demoiselle – Grade II [KYO]
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $250.000 Filly 2 Year Olds.

1st Dali The Viking Smokey Stover Velazquez J R

First in the grade one Chandalier, now first in the grade two Demoiselle, but last in the BC in between, such is racing with so many horses that are very similar. We can only assume that the poor run in the BC was down to bad luck or the draw because there is no other good explanation. So forgetting that effort this filly by Dalitierri will go into Christmas as a stable hope for the KYO but as we know its first getting them in the race which is the hardest of all. Today she made all for a very easy win in the muddy ground. Its clear she is good on the dry but she is even better in the wet so we may see Smokey Stover doing some rain dances in the New Year.

2nd Vamparina Aer Stables Talamo J

Proven on an off track she ran on well from the back to be second but never got close to the winner. She came out of an eighth in an ungraded race so this second at grade two was an improvement….or was it?

3rd Hollywood Short Estero Farms Gallardo A A

Another proven wet tracker she stalked the leader but was easily held and just whacked away for third. A nice run but nit exactly awe inspiring.

4th Techno Cheryl The Sidley Stud Ortiz I Jr

A winner of teh grade three tempted over this course at the mile and fourth beaten six lengths today. Just another one of those anomalies that make assessing this race almost impossible.
