Dan Patch Impresses in Selene Stakes

Dan Patch took to the off track well on Saturday, settling into fourth after the break. Tall And Fast lived up to the name and was away quickly, taking a two length lead early.

Sarcastic was second behind the leader going around the first turn, where Juilliard found herself trapped four wide around the turn. Brilliant Sod was next with Just Her behind her.

Lady Narloff was riding the rail and saving ground, seemingly comfortable six lengths off the lead. Table For One brought up the rear a half length behind her as they finished the first turn.

Dan Patch began moving away from the stalkers with 4.5 furlongs left, up in to second, and took the lead halfway though the far turn.

Juilliard’s wide bid took a told and she began fading along with Sarcasm. Brilliant Sod was never much a threat as our trailing group began their closing efforts.

Coming down the stretch, Dan Patch had lengthened the lead to 2 and Lady Narloff navigated the traffic to close within 3 lengths.

Table For One slid down on the rail and moved nicely for third but was unable to pass Lady Narloff who likewise didn’t have enough in the tank to catch Dan Patch, our winner by a length.

Congrats to owner/trainer Waldo on his Grade III victory and Dan Patch’s first win of the 2021 campaign, a filly by Wicked Moon who looks to have plenty of racing ahead of her after collecting the $90 check.
