Dead-Heat in The Mother Goose Stakes

The Mother Goose Grade 2

3 Year Old Fillies at 1 1/16th on Dirt – Belmont Park, Elmont, New York

Fans in attendance today got a nice treat the week after Halloween, as Sod Fairy from Nakamura Stables and Fire Missle from Mb Stables drew swords at the top of the stretch and could not be separated at the wire. Watching live from the press box I originally thought that Sod Fairy was sitting on it, but then Fire Missle just kept digging in and would not give up the chase. Congrats to all the winning connections on a thrilling race this afternoon! Something Aint Right from Alydar Stables came storming from behind and got very close in the last couple jumps but had to settle for third in a solid effort. She should get back to the winner’s circle soon. Smokin Fire, also from Mb Stables ran a nice one as well from off the pace and rang the register as she cashed the last spot in the superfecta. Real decent effort from a horse taken two starts back for $25.

Of The Rest –

Malibu Cracker from Martyparty was our top choice in the preview and she broke a touch tardy today, then settled down into a decent enough mid-pack position but was unable to offer much when the real running started and she finished off the board in fifth.

She Makes The Rules from Winning Link Stables was in perfect position for three-quarters and then dropped back turning in and failed to menace. It will be interesting to see where the $137.52 auction purchase ends up next.

Don’t Take The Girl from Big Jd Racing broke like a rocket, easily took up the running while giving her owners and long shot backs a thrill most of the way before she tired and dropped back to finish seventh. Lots of options left for the $5 June claiming purchase.

Boardwalk Freak from Noblepark broke slowly and stayed in last position before showing a little gusto to pass a couple tired rivals through the lane.

Sexy Lexy from DJC Racing Stables as expected had a tough time as she was eyeballing the hat trick today. She found these foes way too much and trailed throughout, beating one home.

Face Plant from TwinTowers Racing broke with some enthusiasm and tracked in fourth most of the way before spitting out the bit nearing the stretch and running last.
