The Williams 9 Juvenile train keeps on going as they pick up this first two-year-old turf fillies race by the shortest margin. Getting back from the wide gate she ran home strongly to just get up on the line in an almost carbon copy of the colt’s version. In the boy’s race the wide closer couldn’t catch the winner but in this race, it happened, but only just. A homebred she looked like a big chance before the race if she could overcome the wide gate and now goes into the paddocks to await another shot at black type holding an unbeaten record.

I had a suspicion that the trainer was playing their cards close to their vest with this one and she almost made it home to record a great run for the new stable. Going up on the speed from a sticky gate she was brave throughout, never flinching and very nearly lasted. The trainer will be over the moon that they bred this filly who could be a flagship for the operation moving forward.

The wide gates dominated here as the traffic problems caused the runners to fan out down the stretch, but this filly ran true to the line to grab a solid third. She proved her win on debut was at a grade lower than she will be racing in for a while with a game run to hold onto third in a typically close finish.

Got a little outpaced early but was running home strongly through traffic suggesting there may be more to come when she stretches out over further.
