Delinquent Assembly Just Gets it Done in Mabee Stakes and Maybe Becomes a Chance in the BC

Mabee Stakes – Grade II
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st         Delinquent Assembly      Nakamura Stables       Court J K

The key form line here for this one was her last run in the Yellow Ribbon Handicap where she was sent forward which was clearly something that harmed her chances. Ridden with more restraint she had been doing well before that and today that tactic paid off again as she won a war with the great Maggie Greene who had been closer to the speed throughout. She has racked up a few BC points now and is on the outskirts of the BC chances as we enter the sharp end of the season.

2nd        Maggie Greene           The Sidley Stud        Beschizza A

This great six year old stalked the early pace and looked to have stole it down the stretch but she was just out finished in the last 50 yards and had to settle for second. This should be just enough points to get her into her fifth BC series and she is just about classy enough to be a huge danger to defend her crown.

3rd        Blondewithhandcuffs       Mb Stables          Gonzalez Ru

Second in this race in 2019, third in 2021, i think this was about as good as she could’ve hoped for. She kept going really well and was only a length behind in third but she seems more effective just below this grade and she may go back down to add to her 8 wins.

4th        Too Scared To Party      Smokey Stover        Espinoza V

Last years Rodeo Drive winner and BC fourth took another step backwards here and may soon find herself joining the blue blooded mares in the stables breeding operation. To be fair to her she was sent to the front for the first time in her long career and it clearly didn’t suit her so just maybe she will be given another chance back with her closing style.
