The Highlander Stakes – GI
WO Race 9 6F – Turf

Three Year Olds and Up
1st Desmond, trained by Sharis Stables
The one horse who I really thought would be the one to upset Champion Farley is the one who ended up doing it. He sat right behind the leaders and waited for his time to run and went ahead and went by rather easily to win by half a length. He won in 1:08.03 and earned $150.000 for the win.
2nd Quarter King, trained by Gdp Inc
A very fast closing second for this horse here as he was rolling late to try and win. He ended up dead heating for second. He almost got there but ran out of racetrack but also might not have ran second with the other second place finisher coming from farther back in the field. He ran a good second though.
2nd Derby Pip, trained by RNP Stables
Another flying finish from him too he was absolutely rolling late also. He tried to get there but like Quarter King he ran out of race track. He was flying though and if it was six and a half furlongs he could have got there. He ran very good and was absolutely flying late and almost got there in time.
4th Gleaming Spirit, trained by Mb Stables
The horse who I thought was the second stringer for Mb Stables was the one who ended up running better than the other one. I also didn’t count him out though and thought he had a chance. He ran pretty good though and was coming late too and may have gotten closer with more distance.
Summary
Desmond who I thought was the best horse in the field to beat Champion Farley and he was the one to upset him. He won very impressively and now has a free berth into the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint and will be tough in there if he stays right the rest of the year. He ran really good and is a nice horse.
