Aerialist proved dead-game in securing both the first graded win of his career and an automatic birth in the G1 BC Turf as he took the G2 KD Turf Cup. Crossing the wire in 2:27.59, the Mb Stables-trainee lead a stable exacta as Immoral was a short head back in second. The win increased the 5yo gelding’s bankroll to $1,374.630 and gives him a 25-8-7-3 race record.
1st: #5 Aerialist (Mb Stables/L. Saez 122): Involved from the beginning while battling between runners. Assumed command just before the halfway point and was able to increase his lead to nearly a full length while moving to the rail as they neared the turn. Built an almost two-length advantage entering the lane and gamely kept his stablemate at bay through the long stretch to win by a short head.
2nd: #3 Immoral (Mb Stables/Mario Gutierrez 122): Tracked the leaders from the two-path as he followed the eventual winner. Found clear run between runners rounding the turn as he moved into contention. Had the whole stretch to get by his stablemate and just could not get by.
3rd: #10 Letters By The Bay (Wood Duck Stables/K. Frey 119): Tracked early pace from the three-path before easing some five-lengths back and getting to the two-path. Had only one horse beat entering the stretch, but was able to get by all but the top two while making headway late.
4th: #1 Ags Cherokee (RNP Stables/J.C. Ferrer 122): Raced on the rail from the tracking second flight. Had to move to the two-path as a tiring front-runner retreated in his path rounding the far turn. Ran evenly through the stretch to secure the last check.
5th: #7 Xmas Snow
6th: #8 Burning
7th: #2 The Bachelor
8th: #4 Doctor Dawning
