Caught Red Hoofed  Mb Stables  Baird E T      2/1 121

Nice job at AP last out taking the AP Hcp (GIII) by three lengths…and that’s his style – when he fires, he wins by daylight.  Same thing in that ALW race at WO where he tipped-out by four.  He looks like a horse that is still improving so he could be a serious contender here today.  You know the barn is sharp, Baird gets the return ride – things look good.

Officer Outcast  Downwind Stables  Espinoza V      7/1 119

Back-to-back wins in three starts for the new barn.  He changed hands a couple of times there but seems to have found a home on the grass and at two turns.  In the spring he was struggling at MNR in low-end claiming races but he’s woken up and seems to be a useful type.  This is an obvious acid test (read again) but he’s handled everything up to this point.

 Carnage  D J C Racing Stables  Bejarano R     12/1 118

Hasn’t won since March v. Alw horses at GP, but he was a hard luck third at WO last out in a GII, and he was 44/1 that afternoon.  If you are looking for a jumper and some odds, this may be the one for you.  He’s a turf lover, and sure does run all day long.  I certainly wouldn’t leave him off of my tri tickets.

4
 Amazimum  The A Stable  McAleney J S     15/1 119

Second in the fore-mentioned AP Hcp (GIII) and has been tough in everyone of his five seasonal starts.  He’s another that was a the low-end claiming ranks not so long ago, but has moved up and found a better way of going.  He should have some odds and if you think he’s that much improved, this is a great place to plunk down a couple of bucks.

 Pure Violence  Mb Stables  Leparoux J R      3/1 119

Hasn’t been worse than second in ’15, showing a pair of wins and a couple of runner-up tries v. graded company.  He’s been going the marathon distance, so you can check that part off… like the sod and certainly has be considered a major contender here today.  Give him a big look as I think this may be a spot for him.

6
 Steel Kelp  Serenity Stables  Desormeaux K J     5/1 119

Tagged for $30.000 on the hostile takeover last out and the barn must like him because the fire back on a big raise in class.  He was graded placed three starts back, so it’s certainly not out of his realm.  I’m more worried about the distance than the class, as he’s been more of a miler – perhaps that was the barns idea in taking him – now, we see.

7
Tons Of Dough  LionKing Stables  Talamo J      15/1 118

Five wins in a row and the barn jumped in and snagged this one for $45.000 last out.  He won by six at the distance facing $45.000 claimers, and he’s throwing around big speed numbers.  Still, that was all at MNR/PEN/LRL and now the real money is on the line… I’ll have to watch.
