Purse $100.000 For Four Year Olds And Upward Foaled In CA

1 Striped Maple Nakamura Stables Gryder A T

There arent too many wins on the record recently but the fact that this six year old often records speed ratings in the 90’s just goes to show how difficult it is to actually win here at HRP. A tough old nut he was solid over this trip in much lower class at the end of the year but could only manage third in an ungraded handicap last time and whilst this looks to be his sort of level i dont think even with the Nak factor that he can win today.

2 War Command Fractious Franco G

Its pretty crazy and a reflection of how hard it is at HRP that this one has only won one race in his life but has been fourth beaten a length in a grade one. So has this four year old got ‘bridesmaid’ written into his code or is he just waiting for the dice to roll in his favor? Well today he has the perfect draw and some of the strongest work times so if he cant win today then i guess we can safely say that his code says no at the moment.

3 Yocomoblazed Nolespan Racing Cedillo A

HRP class factor at its best, beaten in a cheap free track claimer and then the winner of a main track optional claimer. Your guess is as good as mine as to how good he is because i dont have access to whatever craziness is written into his DNA.

4 Vaultbuster Asgar Espinoza V

A solid and consistent type who gets into the 90’s speed figures in all his races he will certainly be a factor. Hs close fourth in the Brubaker Stakes last year puts him right in this but it may be that a place is his best chance.

5 Smoking Makes You Il Night Rider Stables Van Dyke D

A tough five year old he has won two of three for this owner since he was bought last year and the way he won his seasonal debut certainly suggests he is a winning chance today. A definite contender and ready to find a chink in the armor of the top two choices.

6 Dream Controlled Mb Stables Bejarano R

Its almost unfair that this stable has such a stranglehold on the game that he can not only send a $1,500.000 BEL winner to a race like this but that he has been slumming it in lower races since that three year old season. His won last time out suggests he is ready for this and you would be a fool to think he didnt have a winning chance even from a gate that would be a death warrant for some.

SUMMARY

War Command has the form but he is not owned by Mb Stables or Night Rider Stables so whilst he would be my choice i would have to go for one of theres to win.
