The speedsters show their wares as we look at the field for the 2023 BC Sprint (GI), a six-panel dash for the fastest in the land, and it’s an interesting group… including some horses that haven’t won a race this season. I think six of the fourteen really stand out and the winner should come from that group… so I reviewed seven because I’m an idiot… after that, it’s anyone’s game to take the minor placings… as always, pace and trip will decide a lot of this.
I’ve landed on the big barn, Mb Stables, and think either On Schedule or Championship Rounds will be the one in the Kodak Booth, at the end of the day. I love that run by On Schedule to take the SA Sprint Championship (GII), and you know I’m a big proponent of horses-for-courses… but Championship Rounds seems to have a head-of-steam, with that win in the Vanderbilt Hcp (GI) and a pair of seconds in the Forego (GI) and the Phoenix (GII).
A few others that must be used in the exacta and tri bets is Retaliate… I don’t think you get the 12/1 posted by HRP, and my 7/2 is probably a closer get considering he’s won five of his last six starts… wet, dry… he’s game. R Lopez is another that shows four wins from his last five starts, including a big win in the Phoenix (GII), really showcasing his abilities. Demon is another that is always close, and could be due for a big win.
Don’t leave out Semi Auto in that tri bet… he’s been close in every start except that hiccup at BEL back in June. California Sun would probably get more attention if not for that tiring seventh here last out in the SA Sprint (GII).
Congratulations and Best of Luck to all involved!
