Let Me Explain How Mb Takes a One-Two in BC Juvenile Fillies Turf

BC Juvenile Fillies Turf – Grade I
1 Mile Turf Stake Purse $1,000.000 Filly 2 Year Olds.

This race went pretty much to the race engines 2023 script with the wide speed push overriding the natural speed from the inside horses and three horses forming a nice wall in front. The only good thing about the 2023 engine is that the speed doesn’t collapse in a heap and whilst there were one or two that seemed to have nowhere to go most of the horses in behind had their chance. However, as often happens in these scenario’s, one horse held the perfect spot and whilst the others squabbled over positions and the leaders whacked away, it was they that got the clear run to the front and the race was over.

This is how they went in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf with the third consecutive dead heat in the BC races which was thankfully down the field.

1st Let Me Explain      Mb Stables           Lopez P

As the wide speed set up in front this one had horses on its inside stopping the race engine from taking her to the rail which ensured in hindsight the perfect trip. Once asked to make her move she had a clear run to the front and whilst all the others were having a race of their own, she shot clear and won as she liked. For a two-year-old BC race the winning distance of two lengths is like ten and there is no doubt this was a hugely impressive win from the race favorite. Bred by the owner this is her fifth win in a row and fourth black type win and the money will already be on her to win the BC Fillies and Mares next year.

2nd Superface Party     Mb Stables         Franco M

As expected, this filly went onto the pace from her widish gate and both I and probably the trainer were surprised at how well she stuck on to hold onto second. She had overcome wide draws to win her two previous but couldn’t get the lead on her own today and was in a race straight from the gate. You would think that with an inside draw and a less torrid run she would be closer to the winner, so she is worth keeping an eye on if she draws closer in if they meet again.

3rd Miss Hijinks     Maxmillion Farm      Lezcano J

Some wide gates go forward and some go back and when they go back, boy do they go back! This filly went all the way back to last and stayed there for most of the race but as the winner had shot clear to win the race so this one started her run to try and get into the race for second. She flew home wide to grab third leaving the trainer wondering what might have happened if she had had an inside gate. At only 15.1hh there is plenty more to come from this one and I feel the Turf King will be picking up some more black type with this one.

4th Beat Down       TwinTowersRacing       Geroux F

This was her fourth graded stakes race in a row and though she hasn’t managed better than third she proved once again just what a tough filly she is. In the photo finish for second she came out fourth of about ten that could’ve been second which says a lot about her tenacity. She had a good enough run but was no doubt a little hindered by the wall of speed in front of her, not as much as some but she certainly didn’t get the dream trip. I have no doubt we will be seeing more of her in these types of races.

5th Action Girl       Diablo Diablo        Saez L

She didn’t have the best start which was a problem as she was a wide gate that was trying to be on speed, so she had to do a lot of work to get where she wanted to be. She did close up, but the effort told, and she ended up weakening.

6th Wonderful World   Smokey Stover     Velazquez J R

I was worried about this one staying the trip on speed so was quite happy when she slipped back into mid-pack and stayed wide. I kept waiting for her to mount a challenge but the jockey or the horse were pretty negative, and she never really got into things.

7th Jacqui       Alydar Stables       Gutierrez Mario

I feel she was the unlucky one in the race as she slipped behind the wide gate speed and spent the race looking at the back sides of the horses in front. I think there is plenty more to come from her.

8th= Purp Plan      Gdp Inc        Beschizza A

Went back rallied late but the winner had gone, and she was only ever fighting for second.

8th= Schrodinger Con     Big Guns Stables      Prat F

Went on speed and faded late.

10th    National Dreamer     First Flight Stable     Gaffalione T

Never better than tenth but only beaten 4 lengths, officially she was never in it but another day and another draw and she would be a lot closer.

11th Reaper Lightning     Arkansas Elite      Birzer A E

Never better than ninth this was a little disappointing as she did not make any real progress.

12th Light Cochise    Mb Stables      Dettori L

It looked pretty clear, the stable had three runners, one tried for the lead, the other sat just off it and this one was sent back. Tactics 101 when you have the advantage of three runners, but this filly lost out as she never got into it.

13th Baby Come Back    Nakamura Stables      Centeno D E

The wide gate took the on-speed positions and this filly never looked happy eventually sulking into second last.

14th Anoushka Titan     Big Guns Stables       Bravo J

Her form will say beaten 5 lengths in a BC race which looks pretty good until you realize this is HRP and 5 lengths equals last. Used the wide gate to get to the front and faded badly late.
