Breeders Futurity – (Gl) [BC]
Purse $650.00 – For Two Year Olds –1 1/16 Miles – Dirt
Keeneland – October 3, 2026
Serenity Stables’ Drink And Drive opened up impressively down the stretch under jockey Gerardo Corrales and captured the 23rd running of the Grade One Breeders Futurity! This colt earned the first graded stakes victory of his career in his first time going two turns. The son of State Police more importantly secured a spot in the starting gate for the Breeders Cup Juvenile later this month at Keeneland. Well done! Drink And Drive now has two career wins through five starts, increasing his earnings to $439.52. Owner Serenity Stables returned to the winner’s circle for the second time in the Breeders Futurity after winning with Get Jiggy With It back in 2018. The final time for the 1 1/16 miles was 1:42.09, which was only a couple ticks slower than the past couple editions. Connections are starting to collect some dividends after purchasing this two-year-old colt from John Henry for $75.00 back in April of this year. He looks to be one of the favorites heading into the Juvenile, so best of luck to Serenity Stables! Congratulations!
Winner: Drink And Drive – (Serenity Stables, G. Corrales) At odds of 37-1, Drink And Drive broke well from the outside post, settling just behind the early leaders about three lengths back. He stayed in the clear while By The Waterline set fractions of 22.73 & 46.42, then began to advance approaching the far turn. This bay two-year-old slowly moved into third after three quarters in 1:10.79 and continued to gain ground out wide. Little by little the son of State Police caught By The Waterline in the stretch, spurted clear to take the lead with one furlong to go, and held off the late runners to win in a final time of 1:42.09. Best of luck to the connections as they take on the Breeders Cup Juvenile in a few weeks! Well done.
Second Place: A Gamblers Share – (Alydar Stables, K J. Asmussen) There was a dead heat for second between A Gamblers Share & Litmus Test. This homebred for Alydar Sables ended up settling in midpack leaving the gate and let the early leaders go, sitting about five lengths off the pace through the first half-mile. He began to make his move as the field reached the ⅜ pole but still had several horses ahead of him reaching the top of the stretch. A Gambers Share had lots of traffic trouble through the stretch and didn’t find any running room until the final 1/16. This colt ended up finding his best stride late and passed horses like a flash, but couldn’t find the wire in time to finish second. This was the winner if he found room earlier.
Second Place: Litmus Test – (D J C Racing Stables, F. Pennington) There was a dead heat for second between A Gamblers Share & Litmus Test. This bay gelding broke ok but got in a comfortable rhythm in the back of the field, about seven lengths off the lead at the half-mile mark. He saved ground down on the rail and began to pick off horses passing the ⅜ pole. Litmus Test luckily found a clear running lane along the inside and started to kick it into high gear at the top of the stretch. The son of Lea was closing fast and eventually reached second late, but A Gamblers Share caught him in the final strides and they hit the wire together. This was a very good effort, especially closing from seven lengths back in his two-turn debut.
Third Place: My Boy Flynn – (Mb Stables, R. Santana Jr.) This homebred for Mb Stables secured a position along the inside and raced just behind the leading group, never more than a few lengths off the pace through the first half-mile. There wasn’t much change down the backside as My Boy Flynn and many others started to move at the ⅜ pole. He held his spot around the far turn and was still fifth as the field entered the stretch. The New York-bred kept coming in the final furlong and moved into fourth late, but could not match the closing runs of A Gamblers Share and Litmus Test. My Boy Flynn ended up finishing third in 1:42.36. This was certainly not a bad performance at all. I’m sure the connections are pleased.
