RACE 1 KEE   Bewitch (GIII)

$150.000   4yo&Up F&M    1 1/2m  Turf

Well, it only paid $4.90 but we nailed the exacta in this one.  EasyMoney Stables’ Tight Pockets proved her class in Friday’s Bewitch (GIII) at KEE… sitting off of the pace for the first mile, she answered quickly when called upon by jockey R Albarado to kick clear and win by two, in a final time of 2:26 and one for the marathon mile and a half.  Post time favorite Vorurtle was second.

The four ladies loaded quickly and were away clean with long-shots Crackdown and Death Dreams away quickly.  Tight Pockets just off of that pair and Vorurtle slowest from the gate.

Around the far turn and nearing the wire the firs time by, Death Dreams in front by a half length.  Crackdown to her inside, a gap of two back to Tight Pockets and Vorurtle was the trailer, six length from the leader.

Now dashing off around the clubhouse turn and on to the back stretch, five and a half furlongs to run and Death Dreams still had the lead by a half length.  Crackdown skimming the paint and applying the pressure, two back to Tight Pockets and Vorurtle could still see them all, five length from the front end.

Past the three-eighths pole and into the far turn, the complexion of this one changed in just a few jumps – Tight Pockets given some rein and she darted off to lead by a length.  Crackdown still holding on to the rail like a life preserver, two more back to Death Dreams, headed in the wrong direction and Vorurtle still at the  back but now only three lengths off the pace.

Into the lane, they went past the three-sixteenths pole and Tight Pockets was now in front by three and gliding along.  Vorurtle now up to second and trying to find more, Crackdown drifting off of the rail in third and Death Dreams was ready to head on back to the barn.

Deep stretch and down to the wire, this was all about Tight Pockets as she went under the wire three lengths clear.  Vorurtle was a best-of-the-rest second, Crackdown in third and Death Dreams closed this one out.

Tight Pockets is a 4yo bay filly by eastern Precedent – Tight Spot, by Inspector Clouseau, and she was bred by her owner, EasyMoney Stables in CA.  This was her eighth win from eight-teen starts and she now has $1515.800 in earnings, $188.000 of those coming this season, winning two of three starts.
