The Hals Hope – Grade III
1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $100.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Edwin Drood, trained by Sanny Village
The only real surprise about this race was that Edwin Drood only won by a head and there was five lengths between first and last. The rest of the field will be pleased at how close they got to the winner but as usual i dont think the distances between the finishers was an accurate reflection on how dominant this horse was. Always well placed and ridden like the best horse in teh race he had to dig deep but always looked the winner
2nd Caught Stealing, trained by Sir Daniel Martin
His last work told us something about his chances and he out ran his best form by some way to be a close second here. I can’t imagine he is only a head worse than Edwin Drood but thats what the records say and his trainer will be very happy with this much improved effort.
3rd West Northwest, trained by Blushing Meadows
The old warrior was taken way back from the wide gate and flew late to be beaten just a half length. The outside draw surely cost him second today and the way he was finishing he could;ve even beaten Edwin Drood with another half furlong.
4th Belief, trained by Joseph Racing
Another drawn wide and taken back he too finished well for a very close fourth and i wouldnt be surprised to see him taking some black type pretty soon.
