Eight Chances in The Ashland

The Ashland – GI (P7) [KYO]
4/6/19
KEE Race 4 1 1/16M – Dirt
Purse $500.000
Three Year Olds Fillies

A field of eight three year old fillies are entered up here for this years grade one Ashland here at Keeneland. Now this field here is a very stacked field and I think almost any one of the eight have a good chance to win. Enough talk of how good this race is let’s take a look at the field.

1. Cannolo (4-3-0-0 $179.100), trained by D J C Racing Stables

The first filly that we come across right here is one who has already won an Oaks prep when she won the grade two Davona Dale at Gulfstream Park in her last start. She closed from far back in that race so if she uses those same tactics she will need a quick pace up front. I think she has a good chance to win.

2. Dont Panic (6-3-1-0 $125.000), trained by Gdp Inc

A nice filly right here also but she has never been tested against a quality field like this recently. She is coming off of a win in a statebred stakes race at Delta which she won by two lengths going seven furlongs. She will need to prove she can get the route but most importantly prove she is good enough for this level of competition.

3. Blazing By (9-5-0-1 $417.200), trained by Mb Stables

The first runner from Mb Stables right here and this filly is entering this race off of a third place finish in the grade two Davona Dale. She won the Forward Gal earlier this year and also won the grade one Del Mar Debutante last year. She is a very good filly but she has yet to win over a route of ground.

4. Tenrikyo (5-2-1-0 $103.000), trained by Smokey Stover

Another one who is coming out of a prep race right here as this filly ran fourth in the Busher at Aquduct in her last start. She also ran second in the Forward Gal to the horse to her inside. She likes to come from pretty far back so she will need a quick pace up front to help her out.

5. Camp Hollywood (9-3-1-2 $1,565.240), trained by Estero Farms

Last years Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies winner right here has not been able to replicate that performance in any of her starts since but I still think she is a very good filly. She comes from way back also usually so a quick pace will help her too. I think she is the one to beat in here.

6. Polish Gemini (10-2-2-2 $170.120), trained by Night Rider Stables

A recent winner in an Oaks prep right here when this filly won the Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park. She ran a big race that day and it was definitely her best race she has ever ran. I think that if she improved off of that win she will have a chance but she will need to run a huge race once again.

7. Orange Beach (5-1-0-2 $55.560), trained by Mb Stables

The second runner from Mb Stables right here and this filly is also coming out of the Bourbonette Oaks where she finished a good fourth. She hit the lead way to early that day and she might have won if she waited a little bit longer to strike the front. She will need to run a huge race to win.

8. Z Command (8-2-2-2 $570.200), trained by Joshua Stables

And the final runner in the field right here is the third place finisher from last years Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies. She is coming off of a second place finish in the Busher where she lost by a head. She is definitely one of the top runners in this field and she will be tough for sure.

Summary

A very nice field has assembled right here and I honestly think that any one of the eight could win this race. My top two picks have to be Camp Hollywood and Z Command because I think they are just a hair better than the rest of this field. It should be a very exciting race for sure.
